  Scientific bulletin of the National Bureau of Haitian Ethnology

  Ce numéro du bulletin du Bureau National d’Ethnologie (BNE) d’Haïti, par le mouvement de son argumentaire, veut présenter une recension critique de la situation contemporaine du sacré. Le but principal de ce prochain numéro du BNE est d’analyser de manière critique et interdisciplinaire les usages et les enjeux du sacré comme phénomène social. On veut interroger toutes les disciplines et leurs approches théoriques ou empiriques sur les différentes dimensions du sacré. Il s’agit de questionner le sacré, entre le penser et le faire, entre l’ici et l’ailleurs, le passé le plus lointain et l’actualité la plus brûlante. Ce numéro entend adopter un mouvement comparatif qui peut prendre la forme d’un va-et-vient entre la situation mondiale ou générale du sacré et sa manifestation haïtienne actuelle, avec en arrière-fond le souci fondamental de mettre en relief la spécificité haïtienne de cette expérience.

  Éliane Beaufils, du département d’études théâtrales organise le vendredi 14 décembre 2018 de 9h-18h un colloque intitulé « Le théâtre face à l’avenir climatique ». Ce colloque étudie des formes théâtrales et performantielles qui traitent de la catastrophe climatique. Il cherchera à analyser comment les scènes confrontent les spectateurs à de nouvelles relations interhumaines et interspécifiques, et comment elles les appellent à l’action et/ou à l’imagination du futur. Les voies d’une scène politique écologique, une scène climapolitique, se dessinent-elles ?

  Migrations, intercultural relations and power relations - calls for contributions

  17th international conference of the Association internationale pour la recherche interculturelle (ARIC)

  Ce congrès propose une articulation fine entre les débats scientifiques sur les migrations, l’interculturel et le vivre ensemble d’une part et les pratiques professionnelles d’accueil et de l’intégration, de l’autre. Dans le contexte d’une dramatisation sociopolitique des phénomènes de mobilité, les migrations sont présentées comme autant de déclencheurs de crises sociétales, engendrant une exacerbation des tensions entre les insiders (les « établi∙e∙s ») et les outsiders (les groupes et individus nouvellement arrivés). Pourtant, les réalités sont souvent beaucoup plus nuancées que cette dramatisation ne le laisse entrevoir. Au-delà de de la question des inégalités sociales et de la répartition de ressources, les discours et les pratiques envers les populations issues de la migration contribuent à mettre en place des formes de pouvoir qui créent un climat favorable aux interactions entre populations et participent de la construction d’un espace commun  parfois visibles dans différents univers d’expressions artistiques partagés ou, au contraire, entravent les interactions, la cohabitation, l’intégration mutuelle.

  Peoples and cultures of the world

  In this interdisciplinary conference we aim to study different peoples and cultures of the world by taking into account the various ways peoples and cultures define themselves and others, thus shaping their identies. We aim to explore the complex relationships being established between cultural dynamics and identites in their spatial and/or chronological dimensions. We would like to focus on the variety of cultures in the world, on their diversity comparatively studied, but we are also specially inclined to discuss top-down or externally imposed politics and the types of resistance used by natives to escape these hegemonic strategies. We invite papers that analyse peoples and cultures (social communities, ethnic groups, indigenous minorities, etc.) considering their specific features and differences, possibly taking into account the theorizations underlying the construction and deconstruction of colllective identities. In this sense, we are interested in the role played by the scholar analyzing different cultures and their spatial dynamics, often fluid and somewhat controversial according to a political perspective.

  Cultural encounters in the nineteenth century

  The exhibition The Dutch in Paris, which was on show in the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam and in the Petit Palais, Paris during the fall of 2017 and spring of 2018 respectively, aimed to visualize the artistic exchange between Dutch and French artists between 1789 and 1914. As part of a larger research project, set up by the RKD – Netherlands Institute for Art History, the exhibition generated so much response that ESNA, in collaboration with the RKD and NWO, decided to organize an international conference on the subject, focusing specifically on international as well as national and local points of encounter and how they facilitated artistic exchange.

  This conference proposes to provide transversal and transdisciplinary reflections on the various modalities of mobility and migration that are created through the arts, as well as the remaking of the worlds of music and dance in the transnational field. It will question the modalities of movement or of impediments to circulate that are revealed by music and dance’s analysis; the way in which the worlds of art and contemporary creations are shaped by different forms of (im)mobility; and how, in this wake, individuals act on their social environments and on the power relations in which they evolve.

  From the 27^th of October until the 10^th of November 2018 the university consortium Erasmus Mundus Europhilosophie is organising, under the title “Corpus Africana; Current philosophies and Dances in Africa and its Diasporas”, an important international meeting, aiming to bring to the heart of arts and humanities university research in Europe the knowledge and the study of “Africana Philosophy”, of choreographic knowledge that is of African or contemporary African lineage in nature. The meeting will take place at the University of Toulouse Jean Jaurès as part of the research seminar “Thinking Decolonisation”, in collaboration with the James Carlès Centre of Choreography’s Festival of Dance and the Black Continents.

  For centuries, small farmers (SFs) have made their living in the mountainous and forested areas of the Mediterranean hinterland, away from centres of power. These places have historically been places of refuge for the populations driven out from the plains. Nowadays, the SFs in the mountains and the forests, which have become more mixed and gradually more part of national entities, are paradoxically suffering from geographical remoteness and economic and social marginality. And yet, beyond the physical and the cultural environments’ diversity and the relationships forged with the urbanised foreland, these same communities are developing adaptive practices on the basis of specific features that continue to be sensitive to various kinds of risk and uncertainty that public policy is unable to diminish.
