Le dossier thématique Enjeux contemporains de la communication de crise : entre ruptures et continuités de la revue Communication & Organisation vise à enrichir les recherches interdisciplinaires sur la communication de crise. Il souhaite explorer de nouvelles problématiques, approches, théories, et terrains, en abordant des études de cas variés à la lumière des transformations sociales et organisationnelles actuelles. Son objectif est de développer des réponses pertinentes aux défis de la gestion de crise, en s’appuyant sur des concepts, théories et pratiques novateurs ou émergents. À cette fin, plusieurs axes sont privilégiés, permettant une diversité de questionnements et une analyse approfondie de terrains et cas variés.

African Sovereignty, Contentious Foreign Policy and 'Unidplomatic' practices

Panel of the European Conference on African Studies (ECAS) 2025

In recent years, accredited representatives and international organisations officials found themselves in the middle of intense diplomatic clashes in African contexts. The recent shift in geopolitical alliances in the Sahel area, for instance, has displayed dramatic cases, with top diplomats (foreign ambassadors, UN heads of mission, and even African Union top leaders) being denied visits, or declared persona non grata, or even expelled, sometimes manu militari. Similar cases occurred in 2021 in the midst of the war in Tigray, Ethiopia. In other instances, national authorities erect administrative impediments aimed at hindering foreign diplomats’ day-to-day activity. These few examples of diplomatic clashes were politically justified by competent authorities in the name of sovereignty in contexts of rapidly changing international partnerships. The purpose of our panel is to identify and examine the diplomatic practices by which official representatives of African states contest the international order and seek to enact sovereignty towards their external environment.

Dans le cadre de l'exposition « Souvenirs de jeunesse », une soirée dédiée aux trajectoires de ces étudiant·es est organisée, réunissant table-ronde et performance.

The “Islam - Migrations - Gender” workshop aims to initiate a dialogue between three fields of research that communicate little: the history of Islam, the history of migrations and the history of gender. The first is too focused on religious dimensions for some, the second is too focused on state control of migration others, and the third is too “militant” for the rest. How, then, can we write a social and cultural history of Muslims in Europe that integrates gender as a category of historical analysis and focuses on the daily lives of the actors, highlighting their “agency”?

The workshop focuses on the intersections between the history of international relations, the history of European integration, women’s and gender history, European studies, and gender studies. Since the early 21^st century, historiography on international relations and European integration has undergone profound transformations, enabling the integration of a gender perspective. The workshop has two main objectives. First, it will reassess the field by discussing the theoretical and methodological challenges of approaches at the intersection of the history of international relations, European integration, gender and feminist history, European studies, and gender studies. Second, the workshop will provide a platform for debate around case studies, recent or ongoing empirical work. It is explicitly aimed at PhD candidates and early-career researchers.

L’objectif étant de mieux situer les identités culturelles africaines face à l’influence technologique sans cesse croissante. Les effets pervers de la mondialisation du numérique sont de véritables menaces pour l’exposition, la valorisation et la transmission générationnelle du patrimoine historique traditionnel en l’Afrique.
