  The idea of decentralization and regional planning, in the 20th century

  Throughout the 20^th century, from URSS to the United-States, Germany, Italy and Japan, architects, planners, economists, and politicians have repeatedly proposed decentralization as a way to restructure societies and their spaces—notably in response to political, economic, environmental, social, or cultural crisis. Our purpose is to revisit the concept and projects elaborated during the 20^th Century (mainly until the 1970s) We will attempt, with the different papers, to understand the ideals that founded them, the references mobilized, the tools – conceptual as well as practical – they experimented, the influences they could have – or not – on the making of the urbanized world and on a new image of it; we will also explore the transfers from a scientific field to another, from a cultural space to another.

  Transforming the ocean law by requirement of the marine environment conservation

  Human Sea European Research Council program final international Conference

  The Human Sea European research Council program aims to respond to the problems related to the development of human activities at sea, which lead progressively to a transformation of the law of the sea and maritime law, and remain today legally little framed. The objective of the Human Sea program, led by Patrick Chaumette, Professor of Law at the University of Nantes and former director of the Center of Maritime and Oceanic Law (CDMO), is to rethink the concepts born of the history of maritime activities and navigation and to question the intervention of States at sea, from their territorial waters to the high seas. The compromises reached in 1982 with respect to the law of the sea will also be examined in the light of threats and new techniques.

  Thinking Latin American Right-Wings in the 20th Century

  This conference is the continuation of two previous conferences held in France (2014) and Argentina (2016) which saw the gradual emergence of a community of researchers working on the questions of identities, ideas, practices and discourses of actors and movements from Latin American rightwing. It is difficult to establish the precise conceptual limits of the rightwing because of the heterogeneity and plurality of the groups and movements that have historically been part of this family and which are thus characterized by the presence of diverse political traditions. It is therefore essential to imagine flexible boundaries when considering rightwing history and taking into account the changes it experienced over time. Our purpose is not to establish canonical definitions, but rather to contribute to set general frameworks for this field of study whose historical relevance and actuality are no longer to be demonstrated, but whose limits and fundamental characteristics are still debated.

  Amílcar Cabral: The “Anonymous Fighter” for the Mankind Fundamental Freedoms

  In 1971, Amílcar Cabral presented himself in the United Nations (UN) as an “anonymous fighter” engaged in the struggle for the fundamental freedoms of the populations of Guinea and Cape Verde, as well as of all mankind. Such affirmation was not casual, since Cabral adopted the status of “anonymous fighter” in other circumstances, arguing that he was struggling for the human dignity, progress and happiness. The main goal of the conference is to bring together academics studying Cabral trajectory, institutions involved in preserving his memory and personalities which became acquainted with him.

  Good judgement - from the symbol to act

  Depuis quelques décennies, l’architecture judiciaire a connu un renouvellement profond et il apparaît que l’ancienne symbolique ne parle plus au plus grand nombre et semble d’un autre âge. Le but de ce colloque est de réunir plusieurs approches (philosophie, histoire du droit et de l’architecture, histoire de l’art, sociologie et anthropologie) pour élaborer un point de vue critique sur l’ébullition en cours. L’histoire et la sémiologie des décors de justice contemporains constituent un champ de recherche largement ouvert, qui se situe au cœur des interrogations actuelles sur les missions de la justice dans la société contemporaine. Le défi est lancé à notre démocratie car sans efficacité symbolique, son message risque de devenir moribond.

  Why did they choose this place?

  Settlements, representations and references of buildings and objects (11th-17th centuries)

  This meeting will be divided into two parts: first, the choice of the place of the building, and then the choice of the place of the object. The construction of a new building usually start with an important thinking concerning the localization. The choice is strategic or symbolic, sometimes both, and depend on its function, its sponsor and its geographical context. For example, a monastery will set up on a secluded place or, in the contrary, on an urban center; a military fortress must occupy a strategic place to dominate a territory etc. In this way, it’s interesting to study all these factors, actors and issues regarding the establishment process in a rural, urban or suburban context.

  En mai 68 et lors du cycle chronologique entourant ce mois et cette année, « on a pris la parole comme on a pris la Bastille en 1789 » (Michel de Certeau, La prise de parole) : les collectifs militants se sont multipliés, la production documentaire militante est devenue exponentielle, la prise de parole s'est généralisée. Une grande partie des archives publiques concernant ce mouvement et cette période vont être ouvertes aux publics au terme du délai de communicabilité de 50 ans. Au-delà de la présentation de ces nouveaux fonds publics et privés (militant·e·s, organisations syndicales, associatives ou politiques, comités de mobilisations), nous serons attenti·f·ve·s à la possibilité d'une présentation à double voix des sources, publiques et privées, sur tel site / territoire géographique, sur tel secteur socio-professionnel, sur tel épisode.

  "Neon Genesis Evangelion" - Serial configurations of contemporary science-fiction

  Cette journée d’étude centrée sur la série originelle de 26 épisodes, Neon Genesis Evangelion et ses adaptations cinématographiques au statut transmédiatique indécidable (Rebuild of Evangelion), a pour projet d’en cerner, au travers de son rapport original au genre de la science-fiction, les spécificités esthétiques et politiques. De fait, il sera nécessaire de réinvestir la présence de figures particulières telles que celles des géants, de l’adolescence contrariée, de l’animalité ou encore de la solitude et de la fin de la socialité comme formes apocalyptiques. Il s’avère pour cela prédominant de s’interroger sur la plasticité ainsi que sur les dispositifs de mise en scène, notamment par l’utilisation d’opérations techniques aussi diverses que la rotoscopie, le plan long, l’image subliminale, le décadrage, la contre-plongée ou encore des échos de plans d’un épisode à l’autre.

  Ce n’est que depuis une trentaine d’années que les connaissances sur l’art flamboyant breton commencent à s’affiner. Mais il reste encore bien des lacunes à combler : si les chantiers majeurs sont désormais bien identifiés, certaines zones restent à l’écart des études ; les phénomènes de transferts artistiques sont encore imparfaitement compris pour le XV^e et le début du XVI^e siècle dans la région ; les rôles des commanditaires – noblesse, clergé, paroisses – et leurs relations avec les artistes et les artisans demandent encore à être précisés.
