2nd conference

The project Arts, ecologies, transitions. Building a common reference, in which this encounters take place, wishes to accompany certain notable developments in the field of the arts as well as theoretical discourse on art and which, rejecting the confinement of art to the realm of ‘civilizational oversupply’, are attentive to questions arising from current ecological, economic and social crises as well as the crisis of representation we also currently experiencing. We propose to use the notion of ‘transition’ – extensively explored in the field of political ecology – to address developments that fall outside of the transformations or discontinuities commonly examined in modern or postmodern art. Such transformations and discontinuities are rather of a formal nature, while the transitions we are referring to here go as far as redefining even the concept of art itself.

Dans la Caraïbe et ailleurs, quel impact le zouk a-t-il eu et a-t-il sur les littératures, les arts, les modes de vie, sur l'organisation sociale, les modes de communication, les consciences, les esprits, les imaginaires ? Le zouk a-t-il transformé les sociétés créoles, les sociétés du « sud » culturellement, politiquement, socialement ? Quel est l'impact du zouk sur les productions internationales ? Quand on sait que le zouk en tant que musique populaire, tient le haut du pavé dans la sphère française, en matière de ventes, de certifications, de récompenses et de représentativité nationale, ne peut-on pas l'envisager en Guadeloupe comme en Martinique, comme un moteur de l'économie culturelle et touristique qui permettrait la synergie d'un réseau allant de l'exploitation, via la production (diffusion, édias, internet, métiers des arts, du spectacle et de la scène, de la communication, de l'information...) ?

For the first time AFIELD launches an open call to support 3 individuals engaged in social and artistic experimentation. They will be granted seed funding to develop their initiatives and advice from a mentor chosen with them within the AFIELD network, for a period of 18 months. Initiated in 2014 by Council and supported by Tsadik Foundation, AFIELD is a network, a fellowship and an advocacy program for social initiatives from arts and culture. Each year the program supports artists, researchers or activists committed to a long-term social initiative by identifying 2 fellows and 3 mentees.

The practice of graffiti, rock inscriptions and secondary epigraphy in Ancient Egypt need to be examined, elucidated and evaluated in relation to their archaeological and environmental contexts. This conference seeks to render ever more discernible these voices from the past, long regarded as inconsequential and perfunctory, by shedding new light on their interrelational links with visual reception, society and culture. The papers aim to map corpora of graffiti throughout the Egyptian space and to address common issues of definitions and interpretations.

Le septième symposium scientifique de l'université de la Manouba interroge le binôme masculin / féminin. Comme lors des éditions précédentes, ce thème sera abordé avec le maximum d’ouvertures et de possibilités de comparaison pour dégager, en fonction des terrains, des études et des acquis enregistrés, à la fois les théories, les lois, les travaux et les pistes de recherche qu’inspirent les dichotomies « masculi n/ féminin » autant que « homme / femme » et « masculinité / féminité ». La nature de ces dichotomies et les différentes conséquences qu’elles induisent restent à replacer dans les divers contextes d’observation et d’énonciation. Textiles - a garden of Eden?

Jusqu'à la révolution industrielle, le textile est lié à la nature pour ses matériaux et son iconographie. L'art des jardins dialogue avec celui des textiles et les deux se réinventent mutuellement. Cette influence peut être réaliste, imaginaire ou symbolique. Si les végétaux sont généralement représentés sur des surfaces planes, ils sont parfois réalisés en trois dimensions, en ameublement comme dans l'habillement. Qu'en est-il de nos jours ? Cet art en voie de disparition est encore pratiqué seulement par quelques artisans au savoir-faire précieux. Le monde contemporain a pris conscience des dangers d'une industrie textile très polluante. Comment les acteurs peuvent-ils concilier environnement, éthique et esthétique dans la production et la création ?

La recherche actuelle sur les sources de Léonard de Vinci, la fortune de ses écrits et l’analyse de son style littéraire porte sur son lexique technique (mécanique, optique et anatomique). Dans ce sillon, la réflexion sur le lexique de la peinture ouvre des pistes innovantes sur les outils de travail de Léonard dans son atelier où se rencontrent écriture, technique et création figurative. Le glossaire pictural constitue le fil rouge reliant les sources écrites de Léonard (la « bibliothèque » perdue de l’écrivain), d’une part à sa pensée ainsi qu’à sa mise en œuvre et d’autre part, à la réception et à la fortune des écrits de l’artiste dans les traités d’art successifs.

The construction of reality in the post-truth age

We invite papers for the 25th issue of the intersdiciplinary academic journal Interstudia, based at the Faculty of Letters, Vasile Alecsandri University of Bacau, Romania. The proposed topic for this issue is "The construction of reality in the post-truth age". We will accept articles written in English, French, Italian and Spanish whose main points of interest will be related to ideas deriving from these following themes for reflection: the role of language in the construction of post-truth, the manipulation of emotion in the media, ethics and post-truth, the role of humanities in the preservation of human values, truth versus opinion in the post-truth society, the relation among data, information and knowledge, ICT and post-truth, the role of numerical devices in the propagation of post-truth attitudes. These are only suggested topics, and should not be considered exhaustive. authors should be free in choosing their topic of research within the frame offered by the general title.

Ce colloque vise à questionner l’impact du rapport final de la commission de la vérité et réconciliation (CVR) en tant que grand récit « officiel » du conflit armé au Pérou. Dans une perspective pluridisciplinaire, il s’agira d’analyser les répercussions des recommandations de la CVR et d’interroger « l’actualité » du conflit armé dans la société péruvienne. Pour mener à bien ce projet, nous avons souhaité faire dialoguer différents espaces, approches et disciplines faisant écho à ce sujet : notre réflexion s’articule ainsi au croisement de l’anthropologie, de la sociologie, de l’histoire, de l’archéologie et de la littérature.
