  Parrhesia (freedom of speech) and conflict of interpretations in diagnosis

  Le diagnostic médical est un haut lieu de l'interprétation des signes, avec ses difficultés, ses doutes et ses problèmes. Il doit néanmoins être annoncé, et donc passer par une mise en forme discursive, avec ses enjeux rhétoriques de conviction, et doit faire avec la réaction des patients (ou de leurs proches), leur propre information et leur propre capacité à interpréter à la fois les signes et le discours médical. Nous proposons un colloque autour de ces questions, en évaluant leurs enjeux généraux conceptuels et sociétaux, et en nous focalisant autour de deux exemples répondant à des évolutions contemporaines : le diagnostic en psychiatrie et le diagnostic en génétique. Notre démarche se veut résolument pluridisciplinaire, associant des enseignants-chercheurs de divers horizons (philosophie, histoire, droit, médecine) et des professionnels de la santé et du soin.

  Defining museums in the 21st century

  La mission sur les musées pour le XXI^e siècle est en cours de clôture en France, tandis qu’une importante recommandation de l’Unesco sur la protection et la promotion des musées vient d’être votée sur le sujet il y a quelques mois; il est cependant impératif de continuer à s’interroger sur les nouveaux contours de cette institution âgée de deux siècles et demi, dont de nouvelles formes continuent d’émerger en ce début de millénaire. La définition la plus courante du musée, en Europe, est celle donnée par l’International council of museums (ICOM) et remonte à 2007. Cette dernière est largement répandue dans le monde et a été adoptée par l’Unesco (dans sa recommandation), même si certains États auraient souhaité la modifier. Le processus visant à changer la définition par l’ICOM du musée constitue une opération relativement complexe.

Our main purpose is to value the biographical methodology approach in academic training and scholarly research, not just for the historiographic practice, where it is of increasing interest the conjunction between History of Science and Intellectual History, but also with regard to broader contexts of production and incorporation of knowledge both by the concerned communities and by a socially and publicly responsible society.

  Après sa rupture définitive avec Marx et le marxisme au milieu des années 1960, Castoriadis s’est efforcé de repenser les conditions de l’agir pratique révolutionnaire dans le cadre d’une théorie de la société qui pose l’« imaginaire » comme son principe de genèse et d’identité. À l’occasion de l’élaboration de sa nouvelle théorie du social et de l’histoire, Castoriadis a pu écrire que les sciences sociales sont toutes passées, sans exception, à côté de leur objet d’étude : l’être du social et l’histoire comme création. Nous invitons les participants de cette journée d’étude à réfléchir sur les raisons qui ont pu pousser Castoriadis à formuler un jugement aussi radical sur l’histoire des sciences sociales, mais aussi à expliciter les implications théoriques de cette critique sans concessions.

  40th congress of the Société de mythologie française

  Le XL^e congrès annuel de la Société de mythologie française, organisé à Pontgibaud près de Clermont-Ferrand, du 31 août au 4 septembre 2017, se propose de réfléchir à la notion « d’espaces mythiques » et à la façon dont les techniques d’orientation les ont définis ou permettront de les définir. En effet, les récits mythiques mettent en évidence, de façon souvent explicite, la forme géométrique du territoire, mais aussi l’assignation de communautés humaines à des emplacements tels que le Nord ou le Midi, l’Ouest ou l’Est. Décrypter l’origine, la transmission et l’évolution des notions de « géographie sacrée » et « d’espaces mythiques » sera l’un des enjeux du congrès.

  The writing of geography

  Ce séminaire entend développer l’investigation des formes savantes de l’écriture géographique en les mettant en contact et en tension avec d’autres formes de textes qui portent également des modalités de connaissance ou de questionnement géographiques : l’écriture de fiction sous tous ses registres, mais aussi le texte descriptif, le récit de voyage, l’essai, ou encore les écrits intimes. On fait en effet l’hypothèse que les formes d’écriture savante ne procèdent pas seulement d’un formatage disciplinaire, mais tout autant d’une matrice culturelle dans laquelle s’inscrit l’activité scientifique. Les choix d’écriture du monde savant seront dans cet esprit mis en perspective avec des pratiques d’écritures artistiques (et des réflexions sur ces pratiques) qui leur sont contemporaines.

Dussel). Il s'agit de saisir le projet d'actualisation du lieu d'énonciation, des récits historiques et culturels, de la pensée et de la production du savoir. Dans ce sens, le défi du tournant de la décolonialité s'inscrit sur la critique et la reconstitution des espaces interstitiels du cadre conceptuel hybride des différences coloniales (W. Mignolo).

  Ce séminaire accueille chaque mois un·e chercheur·e en philosophie ou sciences humaines et sociales travaillant sur la santé afin qu'il·elle présente son travail et expose son regard sur l'objet santé. Organisé de manière à favoriser les échanges entre les différents acteurs, profesionnel·le·s, chercheur·e·s en santé ou tout simplement citoyens engagés, ce séminaire se veut un lieu ouvert de débat contribuant à la mise en place d’une réflexion commune sur la santé, sa nature, ses méthodes et ses enjeux. En mettant en outre l’accent sur les travaux menés en français dans ce domaine, il entend revendiquer l’importance de la francophonie dans ce champ de recherche en pleine expansion, et ainsi favoriser sa reconnaissance et son développement dans l’espace universitaire et public québécois.

  The disciplinary constitution of the humanities and social sciences in 19th and 20th century Greece: National traditions and transnational movements

  25th Modern Greek Studies Conference of French-speaking universities

  The biennial Congress of French-speaking Modern Greek Studies scholars will take place from October 12^th to October 14^th, 2017 in Aix-en-Provence. Its aim is to bring together researchers from every domain of the humanities and social sciences. The issue at the heart of this 15^th Congress is the historical progress of certain areas of study towards the status of full-fledged disciplines of the humanities and social sciences in Greece from the moment of the establishment of the Greek state (1830) and within a context allowing the study of this phenomenon in both its regional and its international dimensions.

   

  The works of the Congress will be organized around the following themes:

  1. The emergence, institutionalization, reproduction and diffusion of disciplinary bodies of knowledge.

  2. The way each discipline positions itself with relation to other fields of knowledge and implements its theoretical foundations

  3. The processes of establishing legitimacy for the new disciplines and for the groups framing them

  4. Disciplinarization and the field of Modern Greek Studies

   

  Abstracts must be submitted before February 28^th, 2017, in either French or English.

  History Review of the technical modernity in France (the twentieth century to the present)

  Critical thinking of modernity has never been more relevant. She also has a history, especially since the late eighteenth century. Its players may have been either movements (1810 Luddites to the Surrealists in the late 1950s, and other movements today) or relatively isolated thinkers, and more involved in writing (sometimes the pamphlet) than in transformative political action. The proposed program focuses on this second category, most misunderstood, but also addresses the first category – in both cases over a period extending from the early twentieth century to today. It puts them into perspective with some excitement speeches of the dominant technical modernity that often they criticize, especially in the period of the 1930s and that of the years 1960-1980.

  Powers of Imagination. Historical Approach

  The concept of imagination is today seen as as a legitimate object of study, having long been discredited by scientific research. However, in modern and contemporary literature, imagination is generally considered in a negative way, as a mental faculty that can cause disease, error, illusion or sin. By cons, its role was very important, because the imagination formed the necessary link between body and soul. So that was the preferred place to act to perform bodily healing as well as spiritual. We would go against this idea of imagination by studying intellectual tradition and alternative and misunderstood practice. Since the XII^th and XIII^th centuries until the early XIX^th century, thinkers and practitioners from a diverse set of disciplines, expressing themselves from different institutional positions, supported the idea that imagination has great powers on the body and on the body and mind of others.
