La thématique retenue cette année – « Circulation des savoirs et dynamiques économiques aux époques médiévale et moderne : mobilités des hommes, transferts techniques et enjeux territoriaux » est à la croisée de l’histoire culturelle et de l’histoire économique. Cette thématique permettra également de poursuivre et d’approfondir celles qui ont été développées les années précédentes (la valeur des choses, la pauvreté, les biens communs, les moyens de paiement, la qualité, l’organisation du travail, les écritures de l’économie, entreprendre).

The medieval book through the perspective of quantitative methods
Cette école d’été propose une formation à l’étude du livre médiéval, manuscrit ou imprimé, à travers l’utilisation de méthodes statistiques et informatiques. Cette école d'été s'adresse, en priorité, aux chercheurs en formation (masterants, doctorants et post-doctorants). Des bourses, destinées à rembourser des frais de transport et de logement, pourront être distribuées, à hauteur d'un plafond qui sera déterminé lors de l'examen des dossiers, en fonction du nombre et de l'origine géographique des candidats sélectionnés.

Religiousness in Mediterrranean towns (12th-15th century)
Ce quatrième atelier de formation doctorale s’inscrit dans le prolongement direct de la scuola di alti studi dottorali qui, de 2004 à 2016, a constitué un lieu de formation de pointe pour les jeunes chercheurs consacrant leurs recherches à l’étude de la culture locale. L’objectif des ateliers est l’étude des sociétés urbaines du Moyen Âge, en mettant l’accent sur les systèmes politiques et les différentes manifestations de l’imaginaire urbain et en portant le regard sur toutes les villes du bassin méditerranéen – celles de l’Occident chrétien, celles de la zone d’influence byzantine et celles des régions sous domination islamique. Les ateliers offrent un environnement stimulant pour les échanges intellectuels entre spécialistes réputés et jeunes chercheurs en formation, pour favoriser, à travers des moments de discussion et d’échange, le renouvellement de la recherche et l’élargissement des perspectives comparatives.

L’école thématique vise à répondre aux problématiques de production, publication, diffusion ou valorisation de traitements de données géographiques dans une démarche de recherche reproductible. En identifiant les principales avancées conceptuelles, méthodologiques et techniques du domaine via un focus sur les méthodes de traitement de l’information géographique, cette école permettra aux participants de s'initier à la mise en œuvre de protocoles de recherche ouverts et transparents avec le logiciel libre R. L'école thématique s'articulera autour de cours magistraux, de séances de travail avec le logiciel R et de sessions de présentations où chaque participant.e aura l'opportunité de partager les problématiques de reproductibilité auxquels il/elle fait face dans le cadre de ses propre recherches.

Art Markets : An Integrated Perspective 2020
International Summer School - Antwerp-Brussels July 6-10, 2020
Inspired by the success of the first Art Markets Summer School held in Lyon in June 2019, a second edition of this unique research, training and networking experience will take place in July 2020 in Belgium. A team of international experts from relevant fields such art history, economics, sociology, finance and digital humanities will engage with participants with an academic or professional interest in the global art market. An exciting program combining lectures, workshops and field trips will familiarize the participants with the nature and structure of the art market system. Attention will be given to the theoretical and conceptual frameworks, the various actors in the art market and the available methodological tools to study this fascinating yet complex phenomenon. This immersive experience will inspire and shape new interdisciplinary thinking about the emergence, history and dynamics of art markets around the world.

Les écoles MAPS (Modélisation multi-agents appliquée aux phénomènes spatialisés) sont par construction interdisciplinaires, aussi bien par les objets et méthodes scientifiques qu'elles privilégient, que par leur public et leur fonctionnement. Elles s’adressent à un public venant d'horizons disciplinaires très variés et œuvrant dans la recherche publique aussi bien que privée. Le point commun aux nombreux participants formés depuis la première école en 2009 est la volonté de se former au développement de modèles spatialisés à base d’agents, dans un cadre interdisciplinaire.

Pour accéder aux sources manuscrites en langue allemande, l'étude de la paléographie allemande est une étape obligatoire mais parfois rédhibitoire. Afin d'aider les étudiant·e·s et les jeunes chercheurs et chercheuses de surmonter leurs difficultés, l'Institut historique allemand propose un atelier sur deux jours qui donne un aperçu général de l'évolution de l'écriture allemande, de 1800 à nos jours. L'atelier sera consacré à la lecture de sources choisies du XIXe et du XXe siècle.

The Keep It Simple, Make It Fast! (KISMIF) Conference 2020 will be preceded by a Summer School entitled ‘Not Just Holidays in the Sun’ on 7 July 2020 in Rivoli Municipal Theatre of Porto. The Summer School will offer an opportunity for all interested persons, including those participating in the Conference, to attend workshops directed by specialists in their fields. Our KISMIF Summer School program invites students who are interested in, or currently using, DIY cultures in their research to join us for an exciting and innovative one-day summer school program. The goal of the one-day program will be to encourage discussion and experimentation in the documentation of DIY cultures as much as it will be to encourage a new generation of DIY academics (Punk Ethnographers!) to experiment with digital cinema and performance in their research practices.

Feeding the war: produce, transport, consume (1914-1920)
Le Centre international de recherche de l’Historial de la Grande Guerre (CIRHGG, Péronne) organise une école d'été du 29 juin au 4 juillet 2020. Elle réunira un groupe international de 20 à 30 jeunes chercheurs, travaillant sur l’histoire militaire, culturelle, sociale et économique de la première guerre mondiale. Au cours de la semaine passée ensemble, ils auront l’occasion d’échanger entre eux, mais également avec un grand nombre de chercheurs plus expérimentés sur le sujet de l'approvisionnement de la guerre (production, transport, consommation).

The Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) announces a Summer School co-organised with the European University Institute (Florence) and the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History (Frankfurt), to be held at the Maison Robert Schuman in Luxembourg City from 22nd to 26th June 2020. This Summer School invites to test digital tools and methods for oral history and stresses how digital oral sources contribute to narratives in European Integration History.

MIDA/ENIS Spring School 2020
The ENIS Spring School 2020 addresses two closely interrelated aspects of Islam in the digital age. Firstly, how (past and contemporary) technological revolutions have informed the performance of selfhood (including gender), the modes of engagement with society, and the political consequences of shifting boundaries between public and private spheres. Secondly, it addresses the construction and transformation of religious authority and religious knowledge production, and concomitant questions of legitimacy, power and discipline, under changing circumstances.

Current issues and perspectives for the future
L'université d'été, organisée par l'Institut historique allemand à Paris et l'École des hautes études en sciences sociales, permettra aux doctorant(e)s, post-doctorant(e)s et étudiant(e)s en master avancé(e)s des deux pays de présenter leurs projets actuels à un cercle d'experts confirmés. L'objectif est d’approfondir, tout en prenant en compte le débat international, la connaissance des approches en histoire environnementale, de les comparer entre elles et de promouvoir la mise en réseau transnational des jeunes chercheuses et chercheurs dans ce domaine. L'université d'été est délibérément conçue pour couvrir différentes époques (de la fin du Moyen Âge à l’époque contemporaine) et la plus grande diversité de sujets possibles.

Les passions et les affects, étudiés depuis les philosophes grecs, semblent ne pas constituer un thème bien innovant des sciences sociales. Il suffit pourtant de parcourir les nouveaux ouvrages depuis 2010 pour se convaincre du contraire. Les passions sont en constant renouvellement comme de multiples aspects de notre vie individuelle ou sociale. Elles sont sans cesse explorées et n’échappent plus à la quantification ni même aux neurosciences, pour qui elles pourraient être comprises comme de simples impulsions cérébrales, les coupant ainsi du social (Ehrenberg). Comment le fil des passions nous permet-il d’analyser la société contemporaine et quelles sont les nouvelles facettes ou thématiques ?

Citizenship in the north and south of the Mediterranean
Actions, objects, relations: an interdisciplinary perspective
Cet atelier doctoral vise à dégager des pistes pour repenser la citoyenneté en Méditerranée, en désincrustant celle-ci des essentialisations culturelles, des épistémès disciplinaires, et des traditions historiographiques nationales. Il part d’une définition large de la citoyenneté, qui ne se restreint pas à l’obtention d’un statut conditionnant l’exercice de droits politiques, mais qui prend en compte les processus de construction des droits d’accès aux ressources locales (telles que le travail, le logement, l’assistance etc.). En adoptant une perspective interdisciplinaire, ce projet veut faire dialoguer, à partir de terrains géographiques et d’époques différentes, des conditions d’affirmation citoyenne formalisées par l’inégal droit d’accès aux ressources locales.
