Ces dernières années, le recyclage de vêtements usagés dans les pays du Nord, qui était avant tout une activité de don et de collecte par des associations caritatives, est devenue une activité commerciale liée aux valeurs de l’écologie, de l’économie solidaire et d’une consommation responsable. Des filières qui commercent « par le haut » et « par le bas » organisent le passage de tonnes de vêtements usagés au-delà des frontières et des océans, qui sont destinés aux consommateurs des pays du Sud. Ce colloque a pour vocation de mettre en avant les enjeux écologiques, économiques et sociaux liés au recyclage, au commerce et à la consommation de vêtements usagés dans le monde.

Depuis une dizaine d’années en France, la multiplication des travaux de recherche sur l’histoire de la psychiatrie s’accompagne d’une mise en valeur nouvelle des archives produites par les hôpitaux psychiatriques. Ces établissements, longtemps considérés comme des lieux repoussoirs, construits en marge des villes ou dissimulés derrière de hauts murs, s’ouvrent aujourd’hui non seulement aux chercheur.e.s mais aussi au public, accueilli ponctuellement lors des journées du patrimoine ou toute l’année dans les musées ouverts au sein de plusieurs centres hospitaliers. Le succès rencontré par ces initiatives témoigne de l’intérêt suscité par le patrimoine médical, scientifique, technique, architectural et naturel des hôpitaux psychiatriques.

Questioning current stakes of pharmaceuticals in Africa

We wish to discuss the multiple stakes surrounding pharmaceuticals in Africa today, with particular consideration of their markets, the political and economic actors which they mobilize, related instruments of regulation, control and competition, modes of health care in which they are placed, and finally their modes of consumption by individuals, without losing sight of the adaptation of "traditional medicines" to the evolution of economic models. Regulation, with its broad sense of norms actually at play, legislative, biomedical, technical and commercial, seems to transverse these various questions and will thus be widely considered. We anticipate proposals based on current research for presentation on the seven themes outlined below. Submissions can come from the various social sciences (anthropology, sociology, law, history, economy, geography, political sciences), as well as from biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences. Although Africa is central to this discourse, presentations of studies from other continents will be considered with the aim of drawing links with Africa and enriching the discourse with current situations in African countries.

Competition and solidarity networks in contemporary South Asia's Labour Market

Hegemonic neo-liberal discourse assumes that free competition on all levels sparks a virtuous cycle of economic growth, which eventually trickles down to poor populations. Over the past three decades, the idea that restrictive labour laws hamper such competition has justified the deregulation of labour in the North and the un-regulation of labour in the South, notably in South Asia, where labour relations had already mainly been informal. Various sociologists have noted that intensified economic interactions and the rise of competition have made individuals more likely to activate their social networks to protect their individual interests. In this respect, to what extent do social networks shape relations in the diverse South Asian labour markets? How do new forms of social groupings reconfigure competition and solidarity relations? What forms of social interactions prevail, emerge and weaken in the market: chosen solidarity and inherited solidarity; inter-caste and intra-caste solidarity; class solidarity; corporate solidarity etc.?

L’objectif principal du poste est de réaliser d’études qualitatives, prospective et fondamentales à travers des enquêtes consommateurs et l'analyse de données digitales (web et réseaux sociaux). Ces études visent à mieux comprendre les attentes de nos consommateurs vis-à-vis de nos produits, d’analyser leurs comportements sur les canaux digitaux et d’identifier les nouvelles tendances de consommation alimentaires et de modes de vie.

The world terrorism is all over the media. Yet, it covers many different forms of violence and is difficult to define either on legal, political or sociological bases. Terror may be defined and claimed as a mode of action whereas designating opponents as terrorists has become a common way for many rulers to disqualify them. The intentions of perpetrators of violences are often confusing: it increases the populations’ fears and allows States to establish a governance of crisis on the basis of security purposes. How can anthropology help to analyze such configurations?

Actualities and new perspectives in social science research

Homelessness, has been recognized as a public problem, not only by international organizations, but also by the national and local authorities from many countries. Homelessness became also a scientific problem. Many generations of researchers conducted inquiries among homeless people. They analysed the phenomenon of homelessness in a longer history of the treatment of poverty in the occidental societies. They were also able to describe the survival on the streets, the different configurations of support, the social violence against homeless people, the construction of social problem during different eras, etc. This congress wishes to offer a space for exchange in order to develop new perspectives in the field of homelessness research.

Ce colloque se propose d’étudier les enjeux et les modalités de l’attachement aux substituts affectifs numériques, c’est-à-dire de comprendre comment, en amont – au niveau des concepteurs – et en aval – au niveau des utilisateurs – les humains fabriquent du lien affectif avec des entités issues des technologies d’information et de communication. Qu’il s’agisse de petit copain pour écran tactile, de personnage « à aimer » (dating sim), d’épouse holographique ou de chatbot sexualisé, ces entités feraient utilement l’objet d’analyses portant sur la façon dont elles sont mises au point, appropriées, détournées, animées, aimées ou mises à distance par leurs utilisateurs.
