L’objectif de cette manifestation sur les machines est de confronter les études germaniques au récent tournant des études matérielles dans lesquelles la thématique des machines s’intègre. Contribuer à mettre en perspective d’un point de vue historique et à penser l’ordinateur et les techniques du numérique et ce qu’ils font aux humains avec les outils des sciences humaines est l’une des ambitions de ce colloque. Cette édition du congrès de l’AGES mettra de manière décisive doctorant·e·s et postdoctorant·e·s en avant en leur réservant la moitié des contributions dans chaque panel.

Vingt ans d'archives de l'internet en France
Les archives de l'internet français fêtent cette année leurs vingt ans, et la loi sur le dépôt légal du web ses dix ans. Le colloque « Il était une fois dans le web, vingt ans d’archives de l’internet en France », organisé par la Bibliothèque nationale de France et l'Institut national de l'audiovisuel avec le concours de l’équipe du projet ANR Web90 et de l'université Paris Lumières, se tiendra le 23 novembre 2016. Il retracera l'histoire de la préservation de ce patrimoine singulier.

Digital Cultural Policies in Comparison
International Journal of Arts Management, Lax and Society (fall of 2017 — vol. 47, no. 3.)
The late 1990s and 2000s were marked by the emergence of the “creative industries” as the dominant paradigm in cultural policies and cultural policies studies. Both a discourse and an instrument, it was quick to spread, notwithstanding its many internal flaws and shortcomings—including, for example, its lack of consensus around key concepts, utopianism, and the overall subordination of culture to the so-called “knowledge economy”. The aim of this special issue is to assemble different perspectives and finely grained enquiries into the current state of digital cultural policies and policy-making across a large array of contexts related to the production, distribution, and consumption of digital culture, as well as geographical and institutional anchorage—perspectives and enquiries that will then dialogue with one another.

L'unité régionale de formation à l'information scientifique et technique (Urfist) de Bordeaux organise une initiation à DtmVic sur le campus de Pessac le 10 octobre 2016. Le stage est gratuit pour les doctorants et les personnels du MENESR et des EPST. La formation s’adresse aux chercheurs intéressés par les méthodes quantitatives d’exploration de corpus et le text mining. Ainsi que le précise le Consortium Corpus écrits, « particulièrement adapté au traitement des questionnaires et des données d’enquête, DTM-VIC (Data and Text Mining – Visualization, Inference, Classification) est ainsi l’un des seuls outils permettant d’articuler les données textuelles et des données numériques ou nominales nombreuses ».

Éditer des textes et des sources avec la TEI (Text Encoding Initiative)
En partenariat avec la délégation Aquitaine du CNRS, l'unité régionale de formation à l'information scientifique et technique (Urfist) de Bordeaux organise une initiation de 3 jours à l'encodage de sources avec la TEI : 07-09/12/2017 inclus, Bordeaux (campus de Pessac). La formation est gratuite pour les doctorants, personnels des universités et des EPST. Les champs d'application de la TEI sont multiples : édition, diffusion, analyse, exploitation, visualisation des sources encodées. Les documents patrimoniaux peuvent également être codés grâce à des normes spécifiques.

Le programme de recherche « Bibliographies de critiques d’art francophones » réunit une équipe interdisciplinaire d’historiens de l’art, de l’architecture, du cinéma, de la photographie et de spécialistes des sciences de la communication et de l’information. Il a pour objectif de valoriser la recherche dans le domaine de la critique d’art en mettant à disposition des chercheurs les bibliographies primaires de critiques d’art existantes.

Around the world in a TextGrid day
Edit, manage, publish and explore your TEI data with TextGrid and DARIAH-DE
The workshop will explore two infrastructures, TextGrid and DARIAH-DE, at work, focusing on modeling a “prototype” digital edition starting with a plain text, finishing with a TEI-based online publication. Workshop participants will explore the diversity of the digital research environment TextGrid as well as tools and services of the research infrastructure DARIAH-DE and its possibilities for digital analysis. An introduction on both infrastructures, illustrated by examples from various user scenarios, will be followed by a hands-on session focusing on editing and modelling TEI data, particularly of digital editions, to their publication and exploration. Following these steps, participants will be able to explore the different tools and services to generate, model and publish XML/TEI data guided by TextGrid and DARIAH staff members in small groups according to their own interests and needs. The aim is to create a small digital edition starting with a facsimile and a transcription, enriching data with extended mark-up such as geospatial encoding, and publishing into both the TextGrid Repository and a SADE instance (web portal). The workshop is organized by the German DARIAH member DARIAH-DE.

Demystifying Digitisation – A Hands-On Master Class in Text Digitisation
Antwerp Summer Academy in Digital Humanities organized by Digital Humanities Flanders (DHuF) and DARIAH-BE
The core of the our programme exists of two half-day workshops on software packages that may help the researcher automate some aspects of the transcription process. The first will deal with ABBYY, still one of the best software packages around for OCRing digitised print materials. Focusing on the software’s possible advantages and pitfalls, this workshop will show the participants how to prepare their documents in order to achieve the best OCR (optical character recognition) results. The second workshop will introduce Transkribus, a software package that has recently made great advancements in optically recognising characters in handwritten materials.

Rédaction d’un guide de bonnes pratiques éthiques et juridiques
Cet appel à communication s'inscrit dans le mouvement de la science ouverte, dans la tradition scientifique du partage du savoir, qui a transformé ces dernières années les pratiques de recherche scientifique notamment en sciences humaines et sociales (SHS). Les collaborations entre chercheurs permettent une meilleure diffusion des résultats de la recherche tout en rendant possible le partage immédiat des informations. L’open access, l’open data, le big data mais aussi les réseaux sociaux académiques font désormais partie intégrante d’un nouvel environnement de recherche.

Le propos de cette journée d’études est de s’interroger sur ce qui est (ou pourrait être) un corpus pour les historiens médiévistes. Elle entend proposer un diagnostic et contribuer à ouvrir des pistes de recherches épistémologiques, heuristiques et méthodologiques partagées, dans la mesure où en utilisant le terme de corpus dans son acception lâche de collection, recueil ou compilation, et beaucoup plus rarement en référence à la notion de corpus issue de la linguistique, les médiévistes n’ont pas encore fait émerger une définition raisonnée ni une réflexion conceptuelle autour de ce terme.

Repetition/s: Performance and Philosophy in Ljubljana
Contemporary developments in the increasingly intertwined fields of philosophy and performance call for a renewed inquiry into the question of repetition. With its unique critique of ideology arising from a synthesis of German Idealism and Lacanian psychoanalysis, the Ljubljana School (Dolar, Zupančič, Žižek et al.) continues to furnish important theorisations of repetition and performance as they pertain to subjectivity and the political. One of the primary aims of “Repetition/s” will be to investigate and develop the usefulness of the Ljubljana School’s theorisations for the emerging field of Performance Philosophy.

Archives unleashed: Web archive hackathon
This hackathon will bring together a small group of 20-30 participants to collaboratively develop new open-source tools and approaches to hackathon, and to kick-off collaboratively inspired research projects. Researchers should be comfortable with command line interactions, and knowledge of a scripting language such as Python strongly desired. By bringing together a group of like-minded scholars and programmers, we hope to begin building unified analytic production effort and to continue coalescing this nascent research community.
