  Ethics, disparities, eventualities

  On this fiftieth anniversary of the “Déclaration de Villeurbanne”, a founding, committed and ambiguous text, the conference focuses on the politicization of culture since the breaking point of 1968. The evolution of the frameworks of cultural action, and the way it shows (or hides) the relationship between politics and culture, will be analyzed in three directions: the specialization of the protagonists of culture (professionals, artists, public); the territorialization of culture (between the exhaustion of national cultural policies, internationalization, and the rise of urban issues); and the institutional and organizational frames of cultural activity (their binding nature, and their interstices).

  Plus d’un demi-siècle de télévision, ce média ne cesse guère de se métamorphoser de jour en jour sur plusieurs stades ; les technologies (de fabrication d’émission et de réception), les dispositifs de médiation, de contenus, des représentations (des individus et des sociétés), des stratégies de communication au sein de l’espace public, l’État de droit (la démocratie, le droit d’expression et le développement) et enfin les rapports avec les autres acteurs (politiques, économiques et culturels). Aujourd’hui, la télévision est confrontée à la numérisation de la communication traduite par l’émergence de nouveaux acteurs de la médiation telle que les réseaux sociaux, la presse participative, etc. et par conséquent elle est concurrencée dans sa place dans l’espace public. Dans cette situation, la télévision de service public avec sa philosophie de communication médiatique se trouve face à un défit d’existence face à plusieurs acteurs médiatiques ; social media, WebTV, chaînes thématiques, télévisions payantes, etc.

  Topical Issue of "Open Economics" Journal

  This topical issue of Open Economics invites submissions that explore both qualitatively and quantitatively how various cities have developed into global hubs of economic activity both historically and contemporaneously. The theoretical and methodological focus of this issue is the application of comparative methods for the purpose of analyzing economic systems in terms that go beyond neo-classical assumptions of economic theory found in conventional macro and micro economics. This also connects to the scholarly discourse on the varieties of capitalism or modernity as a perspective expected to be instructive for considering the preconditions for and effects of the rise of global financial and economic centers, such as London, New York and Hong Kong historically and Singapore, Tokyo and Shanghai more recently.

  Performing conflict - music, dance and aggression

  Ces journées d'étude se proposent d'explorer les situations de conflit et d'agressivité qui émergent des performances musicales et dansées. Cette rencontre se positionnera a contrario de deux conceptions habituelles des rapports entre musique et violence : la première qui envisage la musique et la danse comme créateurs de cohésion sociale et/ou dispositifs de gestion de l'agressivité ; la seconde qui analyse les performances comme lieux d'expression identitaire et de narration des conflits. L'approche que nous privilégions ici met la musique et la danse au cœur de la production de l'agressivité, des tensions, des débordements et de la transformation des conflits, tout en envisageant l'incidence de ces derniers sur les pratiques musicales. Quelles sont les logiques de l'agressivité au sein des performances ? Quelle place pour la musique et la danse dans les processus de confrontations violentes entre individus et entre groupes ? Différents contextes pourront être envisagés, des rituels aux conflits politiques et armés, en passant par les occasions festives, le sport et la vie quotidienne.

  The implementation of France’s commitment in Central and Eastern Europe in the interwar period (1917-1939)

  The aim of this conference is to shed light on joint practical initiatives between France and all the allied countries of central Europe during the inter-war period to concretely build the alliance between the partners. France’s collaboration with the member states of the Little Entente (Czechoslovakia, Romania, Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes) — and of these powers amongst themselves — will be emphasized, but communications on the ties with the other Allied Powers or partners from the region (Poland, the Baltic States and Finland, Greece, Turkey), and even with the revisionist powers (Soviet Russia, Hungary, Bulgaria) are welcome.

  The role of movie theatres in the development of cinephilia is a field which has been the subject of a number of researches . Among these venues, a specific section consisting of those of the network of French cultural institutions abroad has not been analysed. Yet they have encouraged and still make a significant contribution to the dissemination and the promotion of cinema. The French cultural action outside France in general has been widely studied, cinema-related action, however, has been neglected. The aim of this colloquium is to remedy this lack and to highlight this contribution to the development of the cinephilia and to the promotion of French and local cinemas, including the encouragement of young creation and the emergence of new talents.

  Spatializing environmental rumors

  « Géocarrefour » Review

  This call for papers for the journal Géocarrefour aims to question rumors with a spatialized look. The sociologists’ works have already taken a keen interest in rumors, understanding this phenomenon from a spatial point of view implies thinking about what a territory does to rumors and what rumors do to territories. Rumors are at first sight unstable, elusive in their (spatial) materiality. However, their intangible dimension seems to be able to incarnate itself in the territories, to influence their representations, and even to modify the practices of the actors of the territory. The aim of the texts will be to clarify and interpret the territorial anchors of rumors: where do they come from, a very precise place or a set of places? What event caused it? Where did it happen? Is its discourse reported directly or indirectly? What representations of the territory do such rumors convey? The contributions will focus on rumors about environmental issues, which is not yet studied.

  Call for research projects for a residency in weightlessness

  La résidence à bord de l’airbus ZERO-G, destinée à expérimenter l’impesanteur lors d’un vol parabolique, a été mise en place par l’Observatoire de l’Espace depuis 2006 pour permettre à des artistes et des auteurs de nourrir leurs projets de l’expérience de la microgravité. Cette résidence se propose désormais comme un terrain de réflexions et d’expérimentations plus spécifiquement dédié à des chercheurs en sciences humaines, dans des domaines aussi variés que la sociologie, l’anthropologie, la philosophie ou l’histoire de l’art. La nouvelle orientation de cette résidence a pour vocation de nourrir une pensée discursive, étayée d’un appareil théorique et critique venant renforcer la volonté de l’Observatoire de l’Espace d’approcher l’univers spatial par le biais des sciences humaines et de questionner ce que l’Espace fait à l’humain.
