RSAJournal (Rivista di Studi Americani) is the official journal of AISNA (Associazione Italiana di Studi Nord-Americani). The journal publishes scientific contributions pertaining to the field of American Studies, broadly understood to include an interdisciplinary and comparative approach. It is a double-blind peer reviewed journal and is published annually. It welcomes contributions by both members and non-members. Each issue comprises a general section and a special topic section.

Book of Nature, Nature of Books: Practices of Female Botanists
The research centres TIL (Université de Bourgogne) and EMMA (Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3) are organizing a bilingual (French-English) international interdisciplinary conference on the role of women in the development of botany as part of visual, manuscript and print cultures, from the Middle Ages to the contemporary period. We propose to foster discussions at the intersections of the history of natural sciences, print culture, book history, illustration studies, gender studies, plant studies and ecocriticism.

Ce numéro spécial de Belgéo attache de l’importance au temps (passé, présent et futur) pour voir comment le contexte des crises écologique et climatique, caractéristiques de l’anthropocène, renouvelle ou non la gestion, la gouvernance, les usages et l’aménagement de l’eau, des cours d'eau, des zones humides et des zones inondables.

Migrations from Turkey in France: Interdisciplinary State of Research and Comparative Perspectives
The objective of this symposium is to strengthen interdisciplinary dialogue on migrations from Turkey to France and to reinforce an international network of researchers working on this subject. The aim is to highlight research on major issues such as the transformations of Turkish political Islam, the politicization of the diaspora, new forms of exile, elite migrations, and the intergenerational perpetuation of transnational and gendered practices. A comparative perspective will open a dialogue with the situation of migrations from Turkey in the North and the South (particularly in Africa). Young researchers are particularly encouraged to present their current theses and the most recent research works. The conference will also aim to establish a dialogue between the academic world and literary and artistic expressions related to migrations from Turkey.

Bringing Art Nouveau heritage back to life: theory and practice in restoration
From the Venice Charter to the Turin Declaration
The Réseau Art Nouveau Network is an European network for the study, protection and promotion of Art Nouveau heritage. 2024 also mark the 30th anniversary of the publication of the UNESCO Declaration of Turin, which established the guidelines for the practice and theory of restoring this heritage, infull respect of its material specificities. The punctuality of the analysis underpinning this declaration has not preserved it from oblivion. Having recalled the main assumptions of the Venice Charter, we would like to understand why 30 years after its publication the need was felt to draw up a code of intervention specifically dedicated to Art Nouveau. We would also like the conference to be an opportunity to clarify, through concrete examples, the critical fortune of the two UNESCO documents, aware that their implementation in Europe is not always systematic.

What is music diplomacy, what is music propaganda, and what makes it possible to distinguish one from the other – not only from the internal perspective of players involved, but also and primarily from research’s external perspective? Organized as part of an interdisciplinary research project aimed at (re)thinking the distinction between music diplomacy and music propaganda, the purpose of this 2-part participatory workshop is to offer a space for group reflection on these fundamental questions.

Conservation-restoration of embroidered textiles from the Renaissane to the 19th century
Technè, n°60, 2025-2
The study of embroidered textiles presents several points of interest: research may focus on the embroidery itself (materials, techniques, patterns), its supporting medium (nature, composition of materials, type of weaving), as well as the relationships between these two fields. We aim to identify topics of discussion by juxtaposing ancient texts with materials analysis; to present examples of the conservation of embroidered textiles with an emphasis on the choice of technical protocols; and to consider the difficult problem of exhibiting these rare and precious textiles.

It is well-known that the representation of the window played a key role in the history of painting. By delimiting the object to be viewed, the window assigns a place to the subject contemplating the landscape, keeping it apart. The contemporary era is leading to representations of the new screens that still need to be analysed globally. In addition to the monographic approaches that already exist, our approach aims to examine the representations of screens in all contemporary media, without any hierarchical distinction.

Diachronic and transnational perspectives on vogue magazine, from the archives to the Classroom
Nous nous intéresserons en particulier à l’histoire de Vogue au prisme de l’éducation, et nous tenterons d’explorer les différentes façons dont des dynamiques éducatives ont été à l’œuvre au sein de, autour de, ou en opposition au célèbre magazine, à travers l’histoire et dans différents contextes nationaux. Dans le cadre du colloque, nous entendons le terme « éducation » d’au moins deux façons, considérant d’une part que le magazine vise à « éduquer » des publics larges et divers de manière plus ou moins directe ; d’autre part, qu’il est souvent « actionné » dans des contextes plus ou moins directement éducatifs. Nous entendons donc « éducation » non seulement dans une acception institutionnelle, mais aussi dans une conception plus large, englobant tout transfert de connaissances.

A Tribute to Georges Delerue (1925-1992)
2025 will mark the 100th anniversary of Georges Delerue’s birth. Hosted by the University of Evry, this international conference pays tribute to one of the most prolific composers of French cinema, who won three César awards for his scores to Préparez vos mouchoirs (Bertrand Blier, 1978), L’Amour en fuite (François Truffaut, 1979) and Le Dernier Métro (Truffaut, 1980). Despite the existence of a few biographies, the musician is still little represented in academic literature. The conference aims to reflect on existing research on the composer and to lay new foundations for the study of his work.

Intermédiaires et intermédiations en Afrique, XVe-XXIe siècles
Ce numéro de la revue sénégalaise d’histoire porte sur les acteurs et les formes d’intermédiations en Afrique du XVe siècle à nos jours. Le XVe siècle prolonge les relations de l’Afrique avec le monde méditerranéen et consacre son ouverture au monde atlantique, intégrant ainsi le continent dans un nouvel espace-monde. Il en découle une forte interdépendance, de nouvelles interactions ainsi que des connexions multiples et diverses entre l’Afrique et les continents européen, américain et asiatique. C’est dans ce contexte qu’émergent de nouveaux types d’acteurs qui jouent un rôle d’intermédiaires et établissent un lien à la fois entre individus, institutions, Etats, ou encore organismes non étatiques. Ce numéro contribuera à analyser le rôle de ces acteurs et leurs pratiques afin d’en évaluer les continuités historiques et les héritages possibles actuels.

Spaces of Confinement: Memories of Repression and Coloniality
À l’occasion du 88e anniversaire de l’ouverture du camp de concentration colonial de Tarrafal, dans l’archipel du Cap-Vert (29 Octobre 1936 – 29 Octobre 2024), ce colloque international vise à élargir le débat sur les pratiques anciennes et nouvelles de l’enfermement, dans leurs multiples déclinaisons et modalités. D’une part, il s’agit d’aborder la forme camp dans une perspective historique ainsi que les différentes pratiques de l’incarcération coloniale. D’autre part, l’intention de ce colloque est de réfléchir de manière large et transdisciplinaire sur les espaces, les mémoires, les récits et les expériences de détention, et sur la manière dont leurs héritages marquent la généalogie des pratiques contemporaines d’enfermement.

Dans le cadre de cet appel à contributions, nous souhaitons interroger les usages de l’intelligence artificielle (IA) dans le domaine éducatif, en mettant l’accent sur le bouleversement que devrait produire l’IA sur l’apprentissage des langues et des disciplines scientifiques. De même, ce numéro tentera de répondre aux questions relatives à la formation des enseignants de tous cycles confondus (primaire, collège, secondaire qualifiant et universitaire) face aux nouvelles applications de l’IA tout en soulignant les défis, les contraintes et les perspectives.

Arab and African animation has come into the spotlight, gaining more visibility in international festivals by virtue of a renewal of interest and curiosity for these societies since the popular uprising of 2011. The primary aim of this conference is to bring attention to film production that is still barely explored in film discursive practices and to expand the existing knowledge base on film and animation. The second objective is to map the theoretical field of African and Arab animation by approaching it as a whole.
