Classicamente. Dialoghi Senesi sul Mondo Antico
The junior researchers and PhD students from the Anthropology of the ancient world curriculum of the PhD course in Classics and Archeology are promoting the fourth edition of the seminar cycle Classicamente. Dialoghi Senesi sul Mondo Antico. This year's edition will focus on the varied methodologies and hermeneutical perspectives which represent the scientific guidelines followed by scholars in anthropology of the ancient world ever since its development. It will also focus on those approaches that today contribute to a constant enrichment and renovation of this field of study. Our goal is to offer to all those who take part the chance to present their work, be it the result of long research or elements of a work in progress, in an enviroment open to discussion between different perspectives (anthropological, philological, historical, archeological, semiotic etc.).

La revue Antiquitas bientôt en ligne, verra le jour au premier semestre de l’an 2021 grâce à l’appui de nombreuses universités africaines comme l’université Omar Bongo (Libreville/Gabon), l’université Alassane Ouattara (Bouaké/Côte d’Ivoire), l’université Marien N’Gouabi (Brazzaville/Congo), l’université de Lomé (Togo), l’université de Yaoundé (Cameroun), l’université de N’Gaoundéré (Cameroun), l’université d’Abomey-Calavi (Benin) et l’université Félix Houphouët-Boigny (Abidjan/Côte d’Ivoire). C’est donc une revue de rang international qui entend valoriser la recherche scientifique, donner plus de visibilité aux productions des enseignants-chercheurs, des chercheurs et autres experts, et offrir à un plus large public des supports de connaissance plus accessibles. Pour toutes ces raisons, elle s’est dotée d’un conseil scientifique et administratif regroupant des enseignants chevronnés qui ont fait et continuent de faire leur preuve sur le continent et au-delà.

Mediator, Depakine, Thalidomides, contaminated blood, breast implants... health scandals over the past fifty years have regularly focused general attention on the problem of medical risk. They have raised many questions, abundantly relayed by the different media, showing us how crucial and complex the question of medical error is: where did the error come from? But before becoming a scandal, medical error has also been an inherent risk in the practice of medicine, since its very beginning. A mistake in diagnosis, prognosis or therapy, no matter how small, can have disastrous consequences for the doctor and the patient if not detected and corrected. Far from the huge media coverage of current health scandals, what is the status of medical error in ancient medicines and what are its issues?

Tradition and transmission in Antiquity: interdisciplinary reflections
Les notions de tradition et de transmission sont indissociables l’une de l’autre. La tradition, définie comme le contenu culturel du passé, est transmise par la parole, l’écrit ou encore l’exemple, et perdure sur des générations. Les études récentes mettent en lumière son rôle constructiviste, en tant que nouveau processus culturel fondé sur un ensemble d’éléments du passé, qu’ils soient réels ou imaginaires. Ce processus d’élaboration, loin d’être passif, est dynamique et volontaire, et implique des choix qui sont liés à la construction de la mémoire et de l’identité des groupes et des communautés. Ce sont ces principes créatifs que nous souhaitons mettre au centre de ce colloque. Nous analyserons pour cela les supports, les agents ainsi que les contextes et circonstances de l’élaboration et de la transmission de la tradition. Les principales questions abordées seront l’identité et le statut de ses acteurs, les stratégies adoptées ainsi que les effets sur la construction d’une société à une époque donnée.

La production destinée à la jeunesse est un champ éditorial en pleine expansion. Plus spécifiquement, l’ouvrage de jeunesse est un espace de création inventif et florissant. Depuis une vingtaine d’années, il est aussi devenu un objet de recherche et de formation dans le cadre des métiers du livre et de l’enseignement. Il fait l'objet d'une collection aux Presses universitaires de Bordeaux : « Études sur le livre de jeunesse », dirigée par Brigitte Louichon. Cette collection accueille des monographies ou des recueils collectifs destinés aux étudiants, enseignants, formateurs et chercheurs, ainsi qu’à tous les professionnels du livre. Les problématiques et les approches sont variées : elles portent sur des thématiques, des auteurs, des époques, des espaces, des genres, des questions éditoriales et d’enseignement.

Le projet DELI (« Dictionnaire encyclopédique des littératures de l’Inde ») organise le 7 décembre 2017 à la Maison des sciences de l’Homme sa cinquième journée d'étude. This symposium will bring together researchers coming from France and from foreign countries, and from diverse backgrounds: philologists, historians (of food, of medicine), sociologists, anthropologists, philosophers, literary persons, archaeologists (in particular in the domains of the bioarchaeology, paleopathology, osteology), art historians. All the aspects of the question will be analyzed. The history of the crisis in supply, the food practices of limitation under the circumstances will be approached in particular (famine, disease, diet), as the definition and the representations of the thinness and the slimness on the ancient societies, in art and literature. The approach will try to combine, even to confront, the history of mentalities and the study of the realities in Antiquity.

Treatment - from the physical notion to its metaphorical representations in Greco-Roman Antiquity
Lors de cette journée d’étude, nous étudierons la notion de traitement en nous concentrant sur le monde gréco-romain, de l’époque classique (Ve siècle avant J.-C.) jusqu’à l’antiquité tardive (jusqu’au VIe siècle après J.-C.), afin d’analyser les divers types de traitements et leurs représentations et afin d’interpréter leur évolution au cours des siècles. Le traitement (en grec θεραπεύειν, ἰατρεύειν, ἰᾶσθαι ou en latin curare) est une notion assez large, c’est pourquoi nous souhaitons l’appréhender dans une perspective pluridisciplinaire.

Comment ces artistes ont-ils abordé dans leurs créations l’altérité occidentale et la leur ? Comment tirent-ils parti de leur mobilité géographique ? À quel point interagissent-ils avec les cultures et les acteurs culturels de leurs terres d’asile ? Quel regard portent-ils sur leur pays d’origine ? Quelle place occupent-ils dans le paysage culturel arabe ? Est-ce qu’ils ont en commun quelques traits ou stratégies artistiques ? Quelle est la portée artistique et politique de leurs créations ?

Data encoding entails an analog-to-digital conversion in which the characteristics of an object, text, or archaeological site can be represented in a specialized format for computer handling. Once encoded, data can be stored, sorted, and analyzed through a variety of computer-based techniques ranging from specialized data-mining algorithms to user-friendly mobile apps. Especially when encoded data is open-source, researchers around the world can collaborate on the collection, encoding, and analysis of data.
