Michigan Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters. This year the meeting will
be held on the campus of the University of Michigan at Dearborn, March
9-10, 2001. You are invited to submit an abstract of your current research
project for presentation as a paper at the coming meeting of the Academy.
Those interested in presenting at this meeting need to complete and send
two copies of an abstract and an abstract submission form to the section
chair at the address below by November 8, 2000. Instructions and forms can
be faxed or mailed upon request. All papers read at the annual meeting
qualify for publication in the Academy's journal. Michigan Academician.
The journal is a quarterly, multidisciplinary journal. All submission
undergo peer review. It is also well-indexed and distributed to many
libraries around the country through cooperative agreements with the
University of Michigan. Membership in the Academy is also encouraged but
not required for those presenting at the annual meeting. Members
affiliated with member institutions receive substantial discounts on
membership dues. All scholars are welcome, however, regardless of their
affiliation. While topics concerning aspects of Michigan history,
literature, or scientific development are encouraged, there are no
geographic limits to topics. The Academy is also multi-disciplinary with
more than twenty different sections embracing most scientific and
humanistic disciplines. For addresses of other section chairs or for more

For this coming meeting of the History of Science and Technology section, part of the session will organized around the theme of "Ethics and Science in Historical Perspective." Thus, the section especially seeks paper
proposals that fit within this topic. Those addressing the conference
theme of "Sustainable Environment" are also welcome.
If you wish to present your research in the History of Science and
Technology section, please forward two copies of your abstract to the
section chair at the address below by November 8, 2000. Please feel free to
