MAISON FRANÇAISE D’OXFORD
Conference: “Rewriting History:
The Second World War in France”
Co-organised by H. Diamond (University of Bath)
and J.C. Sergeant (Maison Française d’Oxford)
Friday 8th and Saturday 9th June 2001
The Occupation and Liberation of France never cease to be a subject of intense intellectual debate. Recent years have seen the development of new and exciting lines of research which are not only shedding new light on existing controversies but also opening up new areas of questioning. This conference will offer an ideal opportunity for the presentation of this new research to interested scholars. It also seeks to provide scope for discussion of how this new work fits into the existing body of literature and interpretation. How is the history of the Second World War in France being ‘rewritten’?
