ANNOUNCING H-UTOPIA: H-NET LIST ON UTOPIAN STUDIES

ANNOUNCING H-UTOPIA H-NET LIST ON UTOPIAN STUDIES

Sponsored by H-Net, Humanities & Social Sciences On-line, Michigan State University

ABOUT H-UTOPIA

H-Utopia, like the 25-year-old Society for Utopian Studies, is devoted to discussion of utopianism in all its forms, from literary expression to policy analysis to architectural criticism to activism. Our focus is on the forms, contents, and influence of utopian/dystopian thinking. The intellectual homes of our members include literature (in several languages), politics and political theory, philosophy, psychology, the arts, architecture, and urban planning. We currently maintain a listserv, a website, a newsletter and a journal. While our intended audience is primarily the existing community of scholars of utopias and utopianism, our goal is to create a better online community that is both an object of study (as it connects with our scholarly interest in utopias) and a network of interested, active, interdisciplinary, and rigorous scholars. H-Utopia is not a forum for advocating the creation of utopia on earth; it is a forum for people who study the concepts of utopia and utopianism.

H-UTOPIA is co-edited by Professors Peter Sands, U. Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Bryan Alexander, Centenary College . It is advised by a board of scholars.

Like all H-Net lists, H-UTOPIA is moderated to edit out material that, in the editors' opinion, is not germane to the list, involves technical matters (such as subscription management requests), is inflammatory, or violates evolving, yet common, standards of Internet etiquette. H-Net's procedure for resolving disputes over list editorial practices is Article II, Section 2.20 of our bylaws, located at:
