XIVe Colloque du Comité international de paléographie latine,

Enghien-les-Bains, 19-20 septembre 2003

Pour célébrer son cinquantième anniversaire, le Comité international de paléographie latine organise un colloque international qui se tiendra à Enghien-les-Bains (près Paris), les vendredi et samedi 19-20 septembre 2003.
Les travaux seront consacrés à une revue critique des études paléographiques et codicologiques au cours du demi-siècle dernier.

PROGRAMME:
Chacun des thèmes suivants fera l'objet d'un rapport par un éminent spécialiste: L'écriture romaine antique; L'écriture mérovingienne; L'écriture insulaire; L'écriture bénéventine; L'écriture visigotique;
L'écriture caroline; L'écriture gothique livresque; L'écriture gothique documentaire; L'écriture humanistique; L'écriture épigraphique; La codicologie. Un rapport introductif retracera l'histoire du Comité; un rapport final sera consacré aux techniques, tendances et perpectives nouvelles dans le domaine des études paléographiques.

INSCRIPTION:
Les droits d'inscription inclueront deux repas de midi ainsi que les rafraîchissements servis durant les pauses. Un banquet d'anniversaire, auquel tous les participants sont invités, sera organisé le vendredi soir, grâce au soutien de la Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University. Une réception sera offerte par la Municipalité d'Enghien-les-Bains. Le Colloque recevra également le soutien de l'Ecole nationale des chartes et de l'Institut de recherche et d'histoire des textes
(Paris).

ACCES:
L'accès à Enghien-les-Bains par train est extrêmement facile depuis la Gare du Nord, Paris: des trains partent toutes les 10 ou 20 minutes, et le trajet ne dure qu'environ 15 minutes. La salle de conférence peut facilement être rejointe à pieds depuis la gare d'Enghien.

HEBERGEMENT:
Les participants sont priés de pourvoir par eux-mêmes à leur hébergement, soit à Enghien, soit à Paris. Des informations détaillées sur les ressourceshôtelières seront fournies ultérieurement.

1953-2003: A PALAEOGRAPHICAL JUBILEE
14th International Colloquium of the Comité international de paléographielatine, Enghien-les-Bains, 19-20 September 2003

To celebrate its 50th anniversary the Comite International de Paleographie Latine will organise an international colloquium at Enghien-les-Bains, near
Paris, on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th September 2003. Papers will bedevoted to a critical survey of palaeographical and codicological studies in
the past half century.

PROGRAMME
Each of the following themes will be discussed by a distinguished specialist: Latin script in Roman Antiquity, Merovingian script, Insular script, Visigothic script, Beneventan script, Carolingian script, Gothic book script, Gothic documentary script, Humanist script, epigraphic script, and codicology.
An introductory paper will deal with the History of the Comite, and the final one with new trends, techniques and perspectives in the study of Latin
Palaeography.

REGISTRATION
The registration fee will cover coffee, tea, and two lunches. The anniversary banquet on Friday night, to which all conference participants are invited, will be sponsored by the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University, and the Mayor of Enghien-les-Bains will host a reception. The colloquium will also be sponsored by the Ecole des Chartes and the Institut de Recherche et d'Histoire des Textes.

ACCESS
Enghien-les-Bains can easily be reached from Paris Gare du Nord. There are trains every 10 or 20 minutes, the journey taking about 15 minutes. The conference auditorium is within easy walking distance of Enghien station.

ACCOMMODATION
Participants are required to book their own accommodation, either in Enghien or in Paris. Full hotel information will be provided at a later date.
