PhD Studentships – Department of Classics
(School of Humanities, The University of Nottingham)
The Department of Classics is offering two research studentships related to Professor AH Sommerstein’s Leverhulme Trust-funded research project: ‘The Oath in Archaic and Classical Greece’. Each studentship, exclusively for doctoral research related to the archaic and/or classical Greek world and crucially (but not necessarily exclusively) involving the topic of oaths or swearing, will cover the UK/EU level of tuition fees and pay a maintenance grant in line with national guidelines (expected to be around £10,800 in 2004-5), for three years (subject to satisfactory progress).
Those wishing to be considered for a studentship should apply for admission as a research student to the Department of Classics using the standard University application form (available at https://pgapps.nottingham.ac.uk/). All applicants intending to pursue eligible research projects (see above) will be considered automatically as candidates for the studentships. Deadline for application is Monday 5 July 2004.
Informal inquiries may be addressed to Professor Alan Sommerstein via email at alan.sommerstein@nottingham.ac.uk
Further information about the project, the studentships and the application process can be found at http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/classics/research/oathproject.phtml
