Sophie De Schaepdrijver est professeur d’histoire européenne contemporaine à la Pennsylvania State University (E.-U.). Elle fait partie du centre de recherches de l’Historial de la Grande Guerre (Péronne) et du comité de rédaction de la revue _First World War Studies_. Elle étudie les occupations militaires pendant la Grande Guerre (fonctionnement, vécu, mémoire), ayant publié notamment _La Belgique et la Première Guerre Mondiale_ (2004) et _“We who are so cosmopolitan”: the War Diary of Constance Graeffe 1914-1915_ (2008).
