The Institute of French Studies at New York University seeks to appoint a Clinical Assistant Professor beginning in the academic year 2012-13, pending budgetary and administrative approval. This is a non-tenured teaching position and the initial appointment will be for three years, with the option of renewal based on performance.

A multidisciplinary program, the Institute of French Studies (IFS) will consider candidates with Ph.D.'s in anthropology, history, politics, sociology and other fields in the human sciences, and with research and teaching interests related to France, France's former colonial empire and/or to the Francophone world from 1800 to the present. Strong preference will be given to candidates with an excellent command of French. The successful candidate will have both teaching and administrative responsibilities at the IFS and will be expected to maintain a strong scholarly presence in his or her field.
