Zusammenfassung
The doctoral school is only open to Master, PhD students and young doctors who are fully registered (fee paid) for the conference in Lille on this website. There are no extra fees. PhDs students and young doctors who participated in the recent doctoral seminars of ESEE conferences are invited to come and help young PhD students. Meals from Sunday evening to Tuesday noon and transportation from Reims to Lille will be supported by the University of Reims Champagne Ardennes. The accommodation in Reims will be charged to the student, but inexpensive addresses will be provided.
Inserat
The International doctoral school entitled “Ecological Economics and Institutionalist Approaches”, will take place during the 17th and 18th of June 2013 inReims. It will continue during the conference in Lille and finish the 21th afternoon in Lille.
During the last day in Lille, after the main ESEE conference, the Phd students will discuss and prepare a writing on conference summary reports and “fresh eyes reports” (translated in french and english) that will be published in journals as “Natures Sciences Societés” or “Developpement Durable et Territoires. The Phd School will finish at the French party “fête de la musique” in the center of Lille.
Three “Junior Ecological Economics Prizes” for Best Student contribution will be awarded at the end of the summer school.
General organization
The idea of the summer school is to gather during two days PhD students and senior researchers from ESEE, providing space for discussion and exchange. A group of 10 international researchers will follow up and supervise 40 selected students and young PhD, during the Reims event. Master's level students may participate in discussions and listen to the lectures.
The summer school is divided into two types of sessions:
(1) A part of the time will be dedicated to conferences (presentations of senior researchers to enforce the preparation of the conference in Lille : introduce to the interest of Institutional Economics contributions in Ecological Economics) and
(2) the other part will be dedicated to workshops, during which students and young researchers will be able to present their works and gather important feedback from the others participants, European professors invited and the organizing team.
The goal of the summer school is to provide students with new knowledge on Ecological Economics and Institutionalist Approaches but also solid comments and reviews of their own research topic.
The participation at the summer school will provide ECTS.
-
Conferences
Presentations from senior researchers will be focused on three main themes: the integration of an institutionalist analytical framework into Ecological Economics, Current epistemological issues concerning Ecological Economics and methodological issues linked with the problem of measuring the functioning of Rules and Institutions.
Each presentation will leave a lot of time for questions and discussions.
-
Workshops
The workshops set up conditions for very opened and bottom-up forms of participation. Therefore, participants will be able to present their general research question of thesis, empirical results, raise methodological or specific problematical issues they encounter or present a working paper, a power point, a poster, a thesis project, a special research operation, etc.
Three main workshop sessions are planned, during which four parallel sessions will take place. The team of senior researchers will be distributed so that each student will receive feedbacks from 2 to 3 professors. The schedule allows room for 30 minutes sessions per student.

- A cover letter, explaining the candidate’s motivation to follow the course (how could this summer school benefit the candidate, what are his main interests regarding the thematic of the summer school in general as well as considering his own research topic, how could other students benefit from the candidates’ participation…)
- A detailed description of what candidates intend to present (format and content - see below)
- A short CV of maximum two pages
Students have to contact the scientific committe : Estelle Garnier, Florence Gallois, Franck-Dominique Vivien, Romain Debref and Martino Nieddu
esee2013-preconferenceworkshop@sciencesconf.org
Before March 1st 2013
All participants are required to present in English.
As the format and contents of students’ presentations are open, candidates have to contact Franck Dominique Vivien and Martino Nieddu - at the address presented above esee2013-preconferenceworkshop@sciencesconf.org - to expose what they intend to do (presentation of the research question, methodological and/or specific problematical issues, presentation of a working paper, poster etc.) and how much time would they need to present their work, within the limit of 30 minutes (e.g. 15 minutes presentation leaves 15 minutes for professors to react and comment) : but each student will have a senior correspondent for longer discuss.
We recommend for interested students to contact us as soon as possible, given that the summer school will not accept more than 40 PhD students. Indeed, when students will be accepted, a process of dialogue on the form of presentation adapted to the state of progress of each student will be offered.
