Le Centre d’excellence dans l’étude de l’image de l’université de Bucarest lance un appel à contribution pour le prochain numéro de la revue Images, Imagini, Images. Journal d’études visuelles et culturelles, numéro 6/2016. Le numéro thématique consacré au dramaturge Henrik Ibsen et dirigé par Cristina Modreanu a comme point de départ le projet international Hedda’s Sisters. Empowering Women Artists from Romania and Eastern Europe. Ce projet a été soutenu par le gouvernement norvégien (bourse « Ibsen ») et s’est intéressé aux personnages féminins d’Ibsen afin d’exposer différentes perspectives féminines contemporaines et d’encourager l’activité théâtrale des artistes roumaines.

Bucharest University's Center for Image Studies welcomes paper proposals for the upcoming special issue of its publication Images. Imagini. Images. Journal of Visual and Cultural Studies, number 6/2016. This issue, dedicated to the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen, is related to the international project Hedda's Sisters. Empowering Women Artists from Romania and Eastern Europe. The project was realized with the support of an Ibsen Scholarship, offered by the Norwegian Government, and it focuses on Ibsen’s feminine characters, aiming to use them as a tool to showcase contemporary women’s perspective and to empower Romanian women artists on the theater stage.

Images. Imagini. Images. Journal of Visual and Cultural Studies publie des articles scientifiques dans les domaines suivants : études visuelles et culturelles, histoire et théorie de l’art, philosophie et littérature, arts performatifs, anthropologie visuelle.

La revue est notamment consacrée à l’étude des pratiques culturelles qui impliquent des images, ainsi qu’aux liens entre la dimension visuelle des produits culturels et les formes textuelles qui les reflètent. Ces produits sont observés, en plus, à l’intérieur de la structure sociale complexe gouvernant leur existence.

Images. Imagini. Images. Journal of Visual and Cultural Studies est une revue à comité de lecture (peer-reviewed) dans le domaine des Arts et des Sciences humaines, éditée par le Centre d’Excellence dans l’Etude de l’Image (CESI) de l’Université de Bucarest.

Les articles en version définitive seront à rendre pour le 20 janvier 2015.

Les chercheurs en études théâtrales, culturelles, visuelles, féministes ou domaines connexes sont invités à contribuer avec des articles qui reflètent leur activité de recherche ou leurs intérêts pédagogiques afin de stimuler l’échange d’idées et d’expertise entre les cultures et les disciplines.

Images, Imagini, Images. Journal of Visual and Cultural Studieswelcomes high quality contributions in English, Romanian and French investigating topics in visual and cultural studies, history and theory of arts, philosophy and literature, visual anthropology etc.

The Journal’s aim is to ensure and develop an academic forum in the field of cultural studies, a discursive space in which debate and research can generate ideas that matter. We focus mainly on cultural practices that involve images and image making and we pay close attention to the connection between the visual dimension of different cultural products and the textual forms that grasp their meaning. Furthermore, we observe these products within the complex web of social structures that governs their existence.

This issue is related to the international project Hedda's Sisters. Empowering Women Artists from Romania and Eastern Europe. The project was realized with the support of an Ibsen Scholarship, a prestigious grant offered by the Norwegian Government, and it focuses on Ibsen’s feminine characters, aiming to use them as a tool to showcase contemporary women’s perspective and to empower Romanian women artists on the theater stage (curator of the project: Cristina Modreanu).

Submission guideline

The editor welcomes abstracts (300-400 words) in English, Romanian or French

until September 13, 2015.

The editor will inform about the paper acceptance until October 1st 2015. Full-length articles should be sent no later than January 20th 2016.

Scholars in Theater Studies, Cultural Studies, Visual Studies, Feminist Studies or related areas are invited to contribute with articles reflecting their research and teaching interests, that will inspire the exchange of ideas and expertise across cultures and disciplines.
