Since Antiquity and the Middle Ages, across all civilizations and religions, the concept of continuum has fascinated thinkers. In the early XX^th century, the theory of relativity revolutionized our way of seeing the world as well as artistic discourse. This upheaval also coincided with technological advances and the end of the Romantic model. During the middle of the last century artists, in turn, transformed these new physical and metaphysical concepts into a tool for creation. Iannis Xenakis paved the way both in his music (outside-time/intime structures, sound grains ...) and in his architecture (ruled surfaces and volumetric architecture, polytopes ...). More than ever, today, continuum is at the heart of creative thinking, therefore of the arts of the XXI^st century.

Ce colloque international se tiendra en deux étapes distinctes : en novembre 2015 en France et en juin 2016 à Chypre. Pour cette partie en France, notre comité scientifique regroupe des représentants éminents de huit pays ; les intervenants choisis, originaires de douze pays, ouvriront assurément nos perspectives sur le sujet.

La publication des actes du colloque est prévue après le second volet chypriote de 2016.

This International Colloquium will be taking place in two distinct phases: in November 2015 in France and in June 2016 in Cyprus. For this French leg of the conference, our scientific committee included eminent artists and thinkers from eight countries ; the chosen participants, coming from twelve countries, will certainly widen our horizons on the subject.

Publication of the proceedings of this International Colloquium is planned after the second leg in Cyprus in 2016.
