World Conference on Complex Systems 4th Edition Special Sessions

Résumé
After the success of the previous editions, we are very glad to announce the WCCS19, “4th Edition of World conference on Complex Systems “. The WCCS19 will be organized by “Moroccan Society of Complex Systems”, “Ibn Zohr University” and National College of IT (ENSIAS, Mohamed V Souissi University) in partnership with IEEE Moroccan section and “International Academy for Systems and Cybernetic Science” during April 22-25, 2019 in Ouarzazate-Morocco. The WCCS19 will provide a high-level international forum for researchers and Ph. D. students who will present recent research results, address new challenges and discuss trends in the area of complex systems and interdisciplinary science. The aims of the conference are focused on the debate about the most relevant methodologies and approaches to understanding, modelling, simulating, predicting, evaluating and mastering the Societal, Ecological, Biological and Engineered Complex Systems.

Focus and objectives of the Special Session
In Social Science, Agent-Based Models (ABM), also calledmulti-agent modelling orevenagent-based Computational Economics,permit to explore how changes in initial conditions affect outcomes in a socialmodelled dynamic system over time. As such, they can be view as computational laboratory (see, among the others, Tesfatsion L., 2017: “Modeling Economic Systems as Locally-Constructive Sequential Games”,Economics Working Papers 23) and can be used to simulate real-world social problems.
The classical approaches show their limitation related to flexibility in time-space variability and complexity. On one hand, the structure of the data generated by this complex systems are characterized by “[…] nonlinear; nonmonotonic; nonstationary relationships; non-Gaussian (power law) distributions; and feedbacks across scales” (Parker D.C., 2014: “An Economic Perspective on Agent-Based Models of Land Use and Land Cover Change” in Duke J.M. & Wu J. (Eds): The Oxford Handbook of Land Economics, p.421). On the other hand, the majority of econometrical and statistical methods are developed for data that are separable, monotonic, and stationary (Cf. ibid.) and econometrical or statistical theory for agent-based models is almost non-existent. So, developing relevant econometrical and statistical theory to deal with the complexity of agent-based models is one of the various challenging but exciting research perspectives in this field.
The special session will focus mainlyon the importance of econometrics and statistics to both calibrate the parameters and analyse the simulation data of the agent-based models, paying particular attention totheirspecific structure compared to standard theoretical economic models. Econometric/statistic and agent-based models contributions in all the research areasof Social Sciences are welcome.
