  The PARTHENOS e-Humanities and e-Heritage Webinar Series provide an opportunity to explore the new possibilities arising from the digital and infrastructural developments in the Humanities and Cultural Heritage research. The series will act as a lens through which a more nuanced understanding of the role of Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage Research Infrastructures for research can be gained. The webinars are aimed mainly at Digital Humanities and Cultural Heritage practitioners who wish to learn how to maximise their benefits and cooperation with Research Infrastructures.

  Wine macroecomics and finance

  Following the Stock Exchange crash in the early 2000s, fine wine has been deemed an alternative financial asset. Fine-wine price dynamics reflect this popularity by posting a substantial increase over the last 15 years, despite these rises coming to a halt during the 2009 financial crisis and the Bordeaux crisis in 2011. In particular, demand for fine wines has shot up in Asia, notably in China, but also in Russia, with significant increases in revenue. Research on wine economics attempts to explain this phenomenon by basing itself on hedonic analyses founded upon the wine's characteristics. Despite its relevance, few scholars have approached wine from a macroeconomic or financial angle. Little is known about the influence of macroeconomic variables on fine-wine demand and on its price trends? Trajectories. Similarly, the financial analysis of the wine market is in its infancy and there is only scant research on issues such as bubble phenomena, wine price volatility, risk, and expected returns.

How did colonial encounters influence the political, theological and cultural discussion on the rights of peoples, on the rights of ‘others’, and even on human rights? How did these relations influence the gradual definition of borders and frontiers in colonial territories?   Four visiting fellowships in The Integrated Research Training Group of the Collaborative Research Centre/SFB 1150

  The Integrated Research Training Group of the Collaborative Research Centre/ SFB 1150 “Cultures of Decision-making”, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) at the University of Muenster since July 1st 2015, is offering four visiting fellowships for postgraduates / doctoral candidates in 2018 for a period of up to six months, starting in April 2018. The fellowship is EUR 1.365 per month (tax-free; if applicable plus children’s allowance; statutory accident insurance cover according to § 2 Abs. 1 Satz 1 SGB VII; health and social insurance not included) with an additional grant for traveling expenses. For the time of the fellowship the visiting fellows are members of the Integrated Research Training Group of the SFB 1150 and are expected to participate in the programme of the Integrated Research Training Group as well as in the common activities of the SFB 1150.

  Psychiatry in the 19th and 20th centuries from a transnational perspective

  In recent years the buzzword in historical research has been “transnational history”. Although over the past 15 years some historians have begun to integrate this perspective into the history of medicine and psychiatry, especially with respect to colonial history, this research area remains underdeveloped. It goes without saying that there have been transnational contacts and transfers of knowledge in the psychiatric field — translations of books, international conferences, correspondence, memberships in associations, international travel — but research on these processes remains rare. This raises the urgent question of how to approach research on psychiatric history with a transnational framework in mind.

This three-day conference proposes an exploration of how television formats have influenced and staged bodies, health and healthy practices from local, regional, national and international perspectives, and how these TV programmes spread the conviction that viewers could and should invest in their health and shape their own body.

  Difference, diversity, diffraction: confronting hegemonies and dispossessions

  10th European Feminist Research Conference

  The overall theme of the conference is “Difference, Diversity, Diffraction: Confronting Hegemonies and Dispossessions”, which refers to a topic central to Gender Studies: the social construction of difference and inequality on the one hand, and the recognition of marginalised experiences and subject positions on the other. In the face of growing right-wing populist movements, anti-feminist and anti-queer backlash, forced migration, austerity and climate change, these concerns take on renewed relevance. The subtitle “Confronting Hegemonies and Dispossessions” is a call to reflect on, challenge and defy the hierarchies, subjugations and deprivations that are linked to structural differentiations and to find affirmative ways of dealing with difference , diversity and diffraction. The conference is committed to promoting a feminist anti-racist accessible space for all genders.

  What remains of postmodernity?

  Since the 70s, the word postmodernity has articulated a tendency, a state of mind, and a condition that resists conceptualization or complete definition. Although the intellectual community has agreed to situate J. F. Lyotard and his key work, The Postmodern condition (1979), as the origin of the debate on this phenomenon, the truth is that the literary theorist Ihab Hassan had already used the word systematically in 1971. Since that date, the notion has spread across the fields of Literature, Architecture, Visual Arts, and the Social Sciences. These are two of the problems that one faces when approaching the surface of the postmodern phenomenon: its lack of definition and its ambiguous periodization.

  What do we picture when we evoke India? For its 20 th annual Workshop, The “Association des jeunes études indiennes” (AJEI) invites young researchers to share their knowledge and to propose a critical approach of the concept of ‘Images’ in the subcontinent: To what extent do images reflect the many realities and representations of India and how does the Indian imagery affect scholarly, artistic and touristic as well as political perceptions, from a western and an Indian point of view? The Workshop is aimed to develop a cross-disciplinary dialogue in social sciences for a better understanding of the multiple roles that Images have been playing from antiquity to nowadays in the perceptions and the foundations of culture and identities in Indian society. The aim is also to open some reflexive discussions on the use and construction of images.

  15^th May 1968: the Odeon theatre in Paris is occupied by students and becomes the insurgent headquarters where every night militants recount the days' action in occupied factories to an audience of people camping in the auditorium. Youth rebellion was never as mythologised as that of the French students’ fight against institutional oppression. The effects were felt across the Channel, too – but the nature of those effects was, and remains, disputed. 50 years on… where are we? What remains of autogestion and emancipatory education? What remains of theatre inventiveness and sedition? What remains of a need for participatory audiences? What remains of utopia and dissent?

  Peinture ancienne et humanités numériques

  Lorsqu'en 1921 fut publié par A. Reinach le Recueil des textes Grecs et latins relatifs à la peinture ancienne (Recueil Milliet), il s'agissait de rendre accessible à un public le plus large possible ces textes traitant de peinture et d'esthétique. Depuis deux années maintenant, une équipe réunie auprès de la Perseus Digital Library et du Perseids Project (Tufts University) s'efforce de redonner une nouvelle vie au Recueil Milliet (outil indispensable aux historiens de l'art antique) en le transposant dans un format numérique. En regard des travaux effectués, ce colloque vise à interroger les méthodes de travail qui allient humanités numériques et recherche scientifique, en particulier en histoire de l'art de l'antiquité. Mais aussi à mettre en avant les liens entre sources écrites et découvertes archéologiques les plus récentes.
