Ce colloque s’inscrit dans le renouvellement des études sur l’urbanisme provincial romain, stimulé par les approches postcoloniales et par une attention accrue portée aux acteurs locaux. Appliquée à l’Afrique du Nord, cette perspective trouve dans l’épigraphie un terrain d’expression privilégié : les mutations urbaines y sont souvent perceptibles à travers des changements de titulature, des réajustements institutionnels, l’apparition ou la disparition de collèges civiques, ou encore la transformation des pratiques honorifiques.

Through its geographic location, Provence, taken here to be the region between Nice, Montpellier and the Comtat Venaissin, is an ideal location to reflect on the plurality of artistic movements. Open to the Mediterranean and boasting active maritime trade, it was also the last stop in France on the way to Italy, at a time when a visit to Rome was an essential part of any artist's training. The conference, which will be international and multidisciplinary, intends to examine the circulation of artists and works in Provence during the 17th century.

Naturalism in Painting 1870–1905
Conference of the Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest
Perceived as the dominant artistic trend of the last third of the 19th century, yet, still difficult to delineate, Naturalism raises a number of conceptual issues. Naturalism, perhaps the most significant trend in European painting in the 1880s and 1890s, was present simultaneously in other European countries only a few years after its emergence in France, and appeared in equal quality from Scotland to Russia and Spain to Hungary. In order to better understand the current of Naturalism, the research group “Realism and Naturalism in Hungary and in Europe” based at the Hungarian National Gallery is organizing a 2-day international conference.

Wood supply, agro-sylvo-pastoral activities and forest
The objective of this workshop is to engage an open discussion among palaeobotanists (palynologists, dendrochronologists and anthracologists in particular) and historians (studying iconography, written and archaeological sources) to lead to methodological reflection. Our aim is also to question the sources available to study the forest cover and its management, but also to discuss the interpretation of these sources. It is also a matter of highlighting the limits and biases of each method as well as the potential of comparing sources.

Ce projet de journée d’étude veut mettre en lumière les diverses formes de participation et de contribution des femmes du Canada français au dynamisme d’un champ historique en constante métamorphose. Par là, il entend aussi offrir de nouvelles pistes d’analyse pour déjouer la construction genrée du champ de la pratique historienne et mieux comprendre l’effacement mémoriel de certaines de ses ouvrières. Aux côtés de figures mieux établies, qui retiendront aussi l’attention, se trouvent plusieurs praticiennes n’ayant pas investi à hauteur suffisante les formes canoniques d’expression disciplinaire - la monographie d’histoire, l’article scientifique ou la synthèse historique - mais dont la contribution mérite d’être mieux reconnue et étudiée.

Plural and innovative approaches in history and in the history of art
En histoire de l'art, la tradition biographique est à l'origine même de la discipline, mais en histoire, la biographie a longtemps été dénigrée. La biographie connut pourtant son heure de gloire auprès des historiens jusqu'au succès de l'intégration des autres sciences sociales (sociologie et économie, par exemple) au sein de cette discipline qu'est l'histoire, dans l'optique de lui conférer une plus grande scientificité. La biographie, néanmoins, a connu depuis un renouveau grâce aux choix d'historiens de lui appliquer, à elle aussi, des méthodes scientifiques innovantes et de lui apporter à son tour des thèmes et outils issus d'autres disciplines. Cette journée d’étude, à partir d'exemples concrets, vise à faire le point de ce renouveau, à donner des exemples de nouvelles manière d'écrire une ou des biographie(s) et à cerner ses évolutions possibles.

Jewish archives - a mirror of the relationship between the Jews, the State and the nation
Dans le cadre de la thématique générale « Universalités et particularités en monde juif » du programme « Judaïsmes contemporains » du groupe « Sociétés, religions, laïcité » (GSRL), cette journée d'études analysera les processus de constitution d'« archives juives » comme miroir du rapport des juifs à l'État et à la nation. En quoi la conception d'« archives juives », séparées ou au contraire intégrées aux patrimoines écrits nationaux, reflète-elle les diverses formes de l'intégration des juifs aux États-nations aux XIXe et XXe siècles ? Les différentes contributions permettront d'explorer la place des juifs dans les récits nationaux à travers la place accordée par les institutions des différents États-nations concernés au patrimoine écrit de leurs minorités juives.

L’inédit est inhérent à tout travail de recherche : qu’il s’agisse des matériaux utilisés ou de la publication de travaux scientifiques le caractère inédit constitue le « miel » de l’historien.ne, pour reprendre le terme de Lucien Febvre (Combats pour l’histoire, Paris, Armand Colin, 1992) et s’inscrit au cœur de sa démarche. Pourtant, si cet état de fait relève de l’évidence et alimente l’image d’Épinal de l’historien-enquêteur, la question de la définition de l’inédit dans le contexte de recherches scientifiques a peu été abordée en tant que telle.

Virtual Retrospect 2017
Trying to recover the original aspect of ancient buildings or art works is of particular interest, both in terms of research and in terms of dissemination. Although 3D geometrical reconstruction of sculptures and architecture is already a well-established domain, this international conference will be dedicated to color reproduction. Which process should be used to measure colors or to restore their materiality? Should we prefer digital approaches to material reenactments? What choices can be made when faced with lacunar areas or when the works have had several successive states of polychromy during their history? In the context of cultural mediation, how can the public be taken into account without undermining the scientific value of the approach? These multidisciplinary questions will be discussed through oral presentations, posters and multimedia device in a dedicated exhibition space.

Les commémorations du bicentenaire du Muséum national d’histoire naturelle, en 1993, ont permis de démontrer la validité d’une histoire historienne du Muséum. Depuis, la recherche s’est révélée féconde. Dans un cadre national et international, elle se lie aux développements de tout le champ, de l’histoire naturelle à l’histoire des sciences de l’Homme, dont l’anthropologie et la préhistoire, et met en valeur les ressources archivistiques et patrimoniales du Muséum.Le séminaire « Le Muséum national d’histoire naturelle, objet d’histoire. Recherches, hommes, institutions, patrimoine, enseignement » entend contribuer au partage de la vitalité de ces travaux autour d’un établissement, de ses métiers, de ses réseaux et de ses modèles intellectuels.
