Luxembourg City
100 years of universal suffrage in Luxembourg
2019 will mark the 100th anniversary of the introduction of universal suffrage in Luxembourg. On this occasion, the Chamber of Deputies and the National Museum of History and Art (MNHA) will organise a major exhibition on the historical background, the establishment of universal suffrage in 1919 and the consequences of the democratisation process of Luxembourg’s society. In this context, a scientific conference will be held. It will cover both the origins of the discussion on universal suffrage and the struggle surrounding its introduction in the Grand Duchy as well as its establishment in the years 1917-1919 and its effects in the following decades.

Counter-enlightenment, Revolution and Dissent
Philosophical Journal of Conflict and Violence / PJCV
Reason and rational modes of thought are often seen as the bastion against the acceleration of conflict into violence and the goal of the Enlightenment tradition was, in a large part, to liberate individuals from those irrational superstitions and beliefs which were at the base of these conflicts. However, many critiques of the Enlightenment project, both historical and more contemporary, see the imposition of universal reason as itself a form violence, ignoring claims of comprehensive traditions, identity and history on the individual. The aim of this special edition of the Philosophical Journal of Conflict and Violence is to examine possible counter-enlightenment approaches to violence, conflict and conflict resolution.

6th Colloquium on Crime and Criminal Justice in Early Modern and Modern Times
The colloquium provides an open forum for discussion, debate and the presentation of PhD-, postdocand other research projects related to the history of crime and justice in the early modern and modernperiod. It aims for an interdisciplinary exchange between scholars of a wide range of subjects suchas history, legal history, sociology, anthropology, ethnology, humanities, political science and others. Core issues that will be addressed are various forms of crime and delinquency, law and normativity, criminal prosecution and justice, punishment and social control as well as sources and methodicalapproaches. We also invite contributions of scholars who would like to enter into a dialogue with researchers from the field of crime and criminal justice even though the mentioned topics would onlyconstitute a part of the respective projects. The colloquium focuses on elites in a political, economic, social or cultural context, their role inthe administration of justice and the legal system as well as specific forms of deviance and delinquency of such groups.

The conference aims to reflect on and debate the cartography of transboundary and intercultural phenomena. Through an international lens, and drawing from multiple disciplines, it ought to contribute to the conceptualisation of maps independent of political borders by inviting us to think about them across three axes: time (How compatible have intercultural phenomena and cartographic enterprises been throughout history?), space (what are the possible approaches when mapping intercultural or cross-border phenomena depending on the area of study, of creation and of diffusion of maps?), and method (how/why can making maps show such phenomena?).

Marcel Reich-Ranicki: popular literary criticism?
Critique et journaliste télégénique ayant consacré sa vie entière à la transmission de la littérature, Marcel Reich-Ranicki incarne une critique littéraire que l’on peut désigner comme « populaire », dans les différentes acceptions du terme. C’est cette forme de critique, mais aussi d’écriture de l’histoire littéraire et de transmission de la littérature que ce numéro 65 (2019) de Germanica entend saisir, analyser et interroger avec les instruments des sciences humaines. Quelles conceptions du canon littéraire a-t-il défendues ? Dans quelle tradition se tient par exemple la conception pragmatique de la littérature comme refuge, thérapie ou aide à vivre qui, depuis l’expérience du ghetto de Varsovie qu’il relate dans son autobiographie Mein Leben (1999), semble fonder maints critères d’évaluation de cet autodidacte malgré lui ?

Comparative state of research in Francophone and Germanophone spaces
Cet appel à communications est dédié à un atelier de jeunes chercheurs dont l'objectif sera de faire un état des lieux de la recherche concernant la question de la réforme grégorienne, de sa définition et de la compréhension de ses enjeux, dans les espaces francophones et germanophones, dans une démarche non seulement comparatiste, mais aussi transdisciplinaire, puisqu'il s'agira d'interroger l'état de la question aussi bien en histoire politique qu'en histoire du droit, en histoire de l'art qu'en théologie, par exemple. Cet atelier de jeunes chercheurs est organisé par Tristan Martine (université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, CIHAM-UMR 5648) et Jérémy Winandy (universität Hamburg).

Centre interdisciplinaire d’études et de recherches sur l’Allemagne (CIERA) junior conference
Ce colloque porte sur la distinction entre documents publics et privés et la manière dont elle est priseen compte en sciences sociales. Il s’agit de comprendre par quels critères une société ou un acteursocial détermine si un document doit être public ou privé et ce que cela nous apprend sur la sociétéétudiée. Il s’agira, entre jeunes chercheur·e·s de développer une réflexion méthodologique commune, décloisonnée par une confrontation interdisciplinaire et franco-allemande. Il nous semble importantpour une analyse pertinente de nos documents, de comprendre s’ils appartiennent à une sphèrepublique ou privée, et ce d’autant plus que les problématiques contemporaines liées au numériquesemblent devoir faire évoluer ces distinctions.

Second Franco-German masterclass in the digital humanities
Cette deuxième Master Class franco-allemande en Humanités Numériques à l’Institut Historique Allemand est consacrée aux sources autobiographiques écrites dans le contexte des guerres, notamment de celles du XIXème et du XXème siècles dont la France et l’Allemagne ont été des acteurs majeurs. Elle poursuit quatre objectifs scientifiques : mettre en pratique et en perspective les nouvelles opportunités offertes par les méthodes numériques pour le travail sur les témoignages de guerre ; favoriser la diffusion de savoirs historiques à un public plus large au moyen des méthodes de la Public History ; sensibiliser les jeunes chercheurs/ses aux bonnes pratiques numériques ; favoriser les interactions entre jeunes chercheurs/ses et encourager les transferts de compétence franco-allemands.

The V International Conference on Mythcriticism “Myth and Audiovisual Creation” will analyze the impact of myth in audiovisual creation from 1900 to the present day. The Conference will be organized in four universities during two weeks.The Conference will be divided into 4 venues according to different themes: "Germanic Myths" in the University of Alcalá, "Classical Myths" in the University Autónoma, "Biblical Myths" in the University Francisco de Vitoria and "Modern Myths" in the University Complutense. Researchers can send to one of their 4 venues their abstracts. They will have to analyze the relevance of film, TV series and video games in the creation and modification of old, medieval and modern myths to our contemporary world.

"Perspectives" section
La rubrique « Perspectives » de la revue Trajectoires permet aux doctorants et jeunes chercheurs de publier des articles inédits issus de leur travail de recherche (doctorat ou, exceptionnellement, master). Les articles pourront traiter de tous les sujets des champs disciplinaires des sciences humaines et sociales. Si les contributions comparatives sont particulièrement bienvenues, tout article contenant une dimension franco-allemande, de par son objet ou son terrain, mais également à travers les concepts mobilisés ou la bibliographie utilisée, peut être accepté.

Cet appel pour le dossier thématique de la revue Trajectoires s’adresse à des jeunes chercheurs (doctorants ou post-doctorants et éventuellement mastérants) en sciences humaines et sociales en les invitant à penser les mises en scène de la nature dans une perspective interdisciplinaire. Trajectoires s’attachant avant tout à l’étude des mondes francophone et germanique, nous encourageons également les auteurs à proposer des études comparatives.

Februar 2018 an der Université de Caen stattfindet, versteht sich als jährliche Fortbildungsveranstaltung, die wissenschaftliche Vorträge mit konkret praktischen Didaktik-Workshops verbindet. Die Vorträge und Workshops werden sowohl von externen Referenten als auch von Lektoren selbst angeboten; Seminarsprachen sind Deutsch und Französisch. Dieses Jahr folgt auf das Seminar eine Veröffentlichung in der Reihe Kinder- und Jugendkultur, -literatur und -medien von Peter Lang.

Professors, students and public powers in Europe (1848-1945)
Cette journée d’études souhaite, sur la période d’un siècle allant des révolutions de 1848 à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, interroger la relation entre l’université et le politique. Il s’agira de réfléchir aux liens multiples entre acteurs du champ universitaire, qu’ils enseignent, étudient ou administrent, et acteurs du champ politique, dans l’espace européen. Une problématique centrale que cette journée d’études propose de questionner est celle de l’autonomie du champ universitaire, de sa constitution et de son éventuelle limitation, par rapport au champ politique, dans une période où l’institution universitaire est en pleine expansion et transformée par la formation de nouvelles disciplines, liée professionnalisation et la spécialisation des métiers scientifiques et intellectuels.

Emotions politics and the media in contemporary times
A Franco-German interdisciplinary comparison of European history
Les émotions imprègnent le quotidien des populations et ont une influence sur leurs comportements et leurs décisions, ce qui se répercute sur le cours de l’histoire. Appelée de ses vœux par Lucien Febvre en 1941 l’histoire des sensibilités, ou histoire des émotions, a connu ces dernières dix voire vingt dernières années un écho remarquable. Les travaux du couple Stearns, Williams Reddy et Barbara Rosenwein ont fait largement avancer l’histoire des émotions. Des historiens allemands, tels que Ute Frevert, Birgit Ashmann et Jan Plamper, et français, tels qu’Alain Corbin et Georges Vigarello ont participé à l’établissement d’une nouvelle branche de la recherche en histoire.

The publication will take the form of a special issue of the electronic journal Cultural History of Europe, scheduled for autumn 2018.
