  Afro Literature Conference

  Cuando decidimos abordar el estudio de la “literatura africana”, nos enfrentamos a una serie de problemas, en tanto campo complejo de tensiones, de núcleos constitutivos, de perspectivas, inherentes a toda etiqueta formada por la palabra literatura y un gentilicio. Una dificultad no menor la encontramos en los planes de estudios de las carreras de Letras en Argentina cuyo “patrón cognitivo” (Quijano 2017) aún persiste dentro de los rasgos de un patrón de poder fundado en la colonialidad: el centro no ha sido del todo desplazado, para decirlo con wa Thiong’o (2014).  El eurocentrismo académico en nuestro país perdura en el escaso interés que el pensamiento africano y afrodiaspórico ocupa en las carreras de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales, con destacadas excepciones siempre individuales o colectivas pero rara vez institucionale.

  Research Grants to Study the Documentary Collections of the Custody of the Holy Land in Jerusalem

  The Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF, National Library of France) in partnership with the Centre de recherche français de Jérusalem (CRFJ, French Research Centre in Jerusalem), has launched a call for applications for individual research grants aimed to support the identification, description and/or study of collections held by the Custody of the Holy Land. These collections, which are being digitised will the assistance of the BnF, will be made available on Gallica as part of the Bibliothèques d’Orient (Libraries of the Middle East) project. The grant holders can be doctoral students, post-doctoral scholars or master’s level students in any discipline of the human and social sciences, regardless of nationality or main institutional affiliation.

  After a first conference dedicated to the plays composed by writers (Literary Writing for Puppets in Western Europe, Montpellier, 2021), the second international conference will be devoted exclusively to works produced by puppeteers: traditional plays and scripts, adaptations and variation, collective works, “écritures de plateau”. The conference will alternate between papers by researchers, speeches by artists and round tables.

  Considering the future of Africa with its current demographic growth, refers to questioning the making of its cities in the next 3 decades. Concretely, how to think of the African cities of tomorrow? This international symposium focuses on the issue of the sustainable city in Africa by mobilizing researchers, practitioners and experts from different disciplinary fields, on the imperative of thinking today about the African city of tomorrow. This symposium will therefore sufficiently problematize the ways of imagining the African cities of tomorrow in connection with the Sustainable Development Goals. The urban fabric is questioned here on a variety of themes that allow us to understand the complexity of African cities.

  L’objectif de ce colloque est de mener une analyse croisée de l’action et de la pensée politique entre le XI^e siècle et le début du XIII^e siècle. Une réflexion d’ensemble, évitant l’écueil de l’opposition entre théorie et pratique politique, est nécessaire pour apporter une perspective novatrice à l’appréhension de la pensée et de l’action politique au cours de ce long XII^e siècle. Cette rencontre convie les participants à réfléchir sur une mise en relation entre des modèles ou des actes gouvernementaux concrets et des considérations plus théoriques et sur l’influence que ces deux éléments structurants pourraient avoir l’un sur l’autre.

  Religion in movement. New perspectives in the study of religious History

  While the role of the Catholic Church under the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) and the Dictatorship (1939-1975) remain one of the most bitterly contested aspects in public and academic debates, in recent years, the study of religious history has become an increasingly respected as an expanding field of research in Spanish historiography. The foundation of the Asociación Española de Historia Religiosa Contemporánea (AEHRC - Spanish Association of Contemporary Religious History) in 2016 has greatly contributed to this development. The present conference aims to celebrate and continue these efforts. For this reason, the AEHRC would like to invite researchers to join us in the prospect of advancing the state of the art in our field by a) critically evaluating the successes and limitations of current and new perspectives in the study of contemporary religious history; and, in particular, b) by reassessing the processes of secularisation and religious reconfiguration that have shaped the Spanish and Hispanic cases.

  Cette journée d’étude vise à explorer les usages et les enjeux des arbres hors forêt (AHF) en milieu urbain et rural dans les pays du Sud et du Nord. Dans un contexte de changements climatiques, d’insécurité alimentaire et de recherche de meilleur cadre de vie, les AHF deviennent un enjeu majeur de la gestion durable des ressources naturelles, de la préservation de la biodiversité et des sols, et de l’aménagement de l’espace urbain et rural. Ils représentent également un enjeu socio-culturel à travers les nombreux services qu’ils rendent aux populations. Cette journée d’étude vise à offrir un cadre d’échanges fructueux pour différentes communautés scientifiques dont celles des sciences humaines et sociales (géographie, sociologie, anthropologie, histoire…) et des professionnels comme les paysagistes, les urbanistes et aménageurs.

  Les pèlerinages sur le front occidental de la première guerre mondiale

  De la fin de la guerre aux pratiques contemporaines

  Dès la guerre, des dizaines de milliers d’anciens combattants, de familles de défunts et de délégations officielles ont entrepris des pèlerinages sur les champs de bataille à la recherche de proches disparus dans un vaste mouvement d’hommage collectif ou individuel sans précédent dans l’histoire. Les pèlerinages, dans leurs spécificités, se poursuivent aujourd’hui vers des sites faisant l’objet d’aménagements renouvelés depuis les commémorations du centenaire, tels que les vestiges des champs de bataille, les ruines, les cimetières, les mémoriaux. Les nouveaux pèlerins (re)découvrent les paysages, l’histoire de ces sites et les multiples conséquences de la guerre, pour les territoires comme leurs habitants.

  Levinas and the anarchy of the Good Readings of “Humanism of the Other Man”

  Published in 1972, Humanism of the Other Man corresponds to the period of full maturity of Levinas’ thought, after the breakthrough of Totality and Infinity. It consists in three papers: “Significance and Meaning” (1964), “Humanism and Anarchy” (1968) and “Without Identity” (1970). In them, Levinas affirms his desire to reclaim humanism, against the general trend of French philosophy, but in full knowledge of the difficulties that this would involve. He promotes a “new humanism”, a new conception of culture and meaning, of time and subjectivity.

  The ongoing wars and migrations have foregrounded the issue of the hosting of migrants and the duty of hospitality. This international Early career symposium aims to explore the relationship to foreigners in Germanophone areas, France and Britain (including colonial spaces) from the revocation of the Edict of Nantes (1685), which provoked international migrations of Protestant refugees, to the revolutions of 1848, which were characterized both by internationalist fervour and by political exiles.
