The Incarnate Secret: The Human Body Between Medicine and Secret Sciences

    Revue Arcana Naturae, n°8 (2027)

From the Renaissance up to the thresholds of the 20th century, the human body was never a simple biological object, but a genuine “incarnate secret” and a conceptual nexus at the crossroads of scientific knowledge and occult lore. The body has often been perceived as the greatest of Nature’s secrets. For centuries, the inquiry into the body represented a battlefield and a point of collaboration between disciplines. Particular attention will be paid to the body-as-sign (between manifestation and dissimulation), the body-as-medium (a laboratory for occult forces), and the body-as-science (corporeal epistemology and knowledge

How do former industrial towns and border towns welcome refugees?

The Systemic Nature of Discrimination: Recognize, Understand, Intervene

This symposium aims to examine the concept of systemic discrimination as a category of analysis that helps us understand the mechanisms and dynamics through which inequalities in treatment are reproduced and reinforced within institutions and social structures. Beyond examining individual or intentional discrimination, the aim is to understand how norms, practices, systems, and rationales can have discriminatory effects, even unintentionally, in various sectors, including health, higher education, housing, and employment.

Antiracisms and the Social Sciences, 2025-2066

This seminar examines the history and sociology of antiracism—or antiracisms—in the Atlantic region since the end of the 18th century. We will be looking at how what we now call “racism” has been thought about and combated over the long term. Few studies are explicitly devoted to antiracism. We will, therefore, propose a genealogy of antiracist strategies. This seminar is committed to articulating a transdisciplinary and transnational perspective on the dynamics of anti-racist thought and practice.

Gender and Feminist Perspectives in Southeast Asia

    Thematic issue, Moussons No. 49

This issue of Moussons invites a collective examination of gender relations, feminist mobilisations, and policies promoting the rights of women and gender minorities in Southeast Asia, by exploring their translations, tensions, and effects across different scales. This issue aims to contribute to a situated and decolonial reading of gender policies in Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on interactions between global dynamics and local configurations, between normative institutions and collective mobilisations, and between colonial legacies and contemporary transformations. It seeks to foreground the plurality of feminist and gender-minority voices and epistemologies in the region, by supporting the translation and circulation of work produced in Southeast Asian vernacular languages into French or English, in order to foster an inclusive intellectual dialogue.
