  « Dans l’espace personne ne vous entend crier », l’accroche publicitaire, devenue iconique, du film Alien de Ridley Scott souligne le rôle prépondérant joué par les « voix, sons, bruits, silences » en science-fiction. Pour Nis Gron, « William Whittington a démontré combien Alien (1979) a été un tremplin essentiel qui a montré l’importance et a permis le développement de la bande sonore, notamment dans l’utilisation expressionniste des effets sonores, des sons ambiants et des bruitages dans les films de science-fiction ». La science-fiction joue avec les complexités et les contradictions des « sons et silences » à travers les bandes sonores et au sein des intrigues.

  This issue of Amerika will explore Southern Cone’s and Brazil’s horrific and terrific recent literature. In Latin America, violence is ubiquitous producing fear and anguish, and these emotions can be contagious. Fear and anguish are intrinsically related to terror, and they can take place both at a collective level and at an individual level. Many authors use terror to deal with subjects such as politics, family, violence, poverty, public security, social radicalization, the body and the feminine condition.

  Refugees in the world: history and emergency

  Il s’agit de retracer l’émergence de la notion de réfugié au XXe siècle, l’évolution historique de leur nombre et de leur situation dans le monde, avec un pic au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, et un second pic de nos jours, notamment depuis 2015, avec aujourd’hui un chiffre de 80 millions de réfugiés. L’approche sera aussi juridique et humanitaire, avec des interventions de spécialistes et de responsables associatifs. La soirée d’études analysera la crise de l’accueil des réfugiés, en Europe et dans le monde, et ces réflexions s’inscrivent à la fois dans le champ de l’histoire, de la géographie, de la sociologie, de la science politique, des relations internationales, et du droit international.

  We are looking for contributions that explore the technical, methodological, social, political, scientific and ethical aspects arising from the use of photography in anthropological research, as well as reflections on the questions raised by the “persistence of images” (Le Gall 2014) that go beyond the contexts of academic production.   Contemporary Societies and Domestic Threats

  This colloquium proposes to examine, from an interdisciplinary perspective, contemporary societies' relationship to internal threats. What happens when individuals, groups or segments of the population threaten to use violence, or actually do so, by turning against other groups or the state? What happens when the state itself goes 'into battle' by targeting groups and confronting them as 'enemies'? These situations cover a large number of historical experiences, which are at first sight irreducible and incommensurable, and are even more difficult to define given that their qualifications are almost always matters of struggle between the actors involved. This conference aims at bringing them together, gathering and confronting investigations devoted to sequences of this type in order to question these situations of hostility.

  Depuis une trentaine d’années, la question des relations entre cinéma et musées est régulièrement posée au sein du monde académique. Afin d’explorer les différentes approches théoriques et analytiques au prisme desquelles ces relations peuvent être étudiées, ce numéro se structurera autour de trois axes : l’histoire des musées et des expositions de cinéma (1), les formes contemporaines de l’exposition de ce dernier (2), l’analyse de la muséalité grâce aux fictions filmiques (3). Dans leurs propositions, les auteurs sont encouragés à mettre en lumière de nouveaux corpus, en traitant des multiples aspects du phénomène muséal, de films rarement abordés ou d’aires géographiques moins traitées dans la bibliographie spécifique au thème du numéro.

  Peut-être plus que d’autres époques de l’histoire des arts plastiques, l’art contemporain semble appeler l’analyse sociologique. De fait, les dernières années ont vu se multiplier les recherches sur l’art moderne et contemporain inspirées par les méthodes de la sociologie de l’art ou de l’histoire sociale de l’art. Mais cette orientation est encore loin d’être courante, dans une discipline, l’histoire de l’art, qui a une longue tradition de défiance vis-à-vis des sciences sociales. Réciproquement, les sociologues sont relativement peu nombreux à s’aventurer sur le terrain de l’art contemporain. Cette journée d’étude entend donc encourager le développement d’une spécialité encore en devenir et les confrontations de points de vue entre disciplines et courants théoriques.

  Protestant Revival Movements in the Francophone World (Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Pacific)

  Origins, Currents, Developments and Diversification from the Nineteenth Century to the Present

  This Congress, intends to broaden that research to include, in addition to Europe, Francophone Africa and Madagascar, Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific. From the beginning of the nineteenth century, this geographical and linguistic area (like others) has been to the benefit of the deployment of revival movements through mission. These movements have generated new Christendoms and ecclesial communities, many of which have emancipated themselves from inherited/exported models. Awakenings have taken specific forms and diversified. Persons and groups within traditional cultures and religions have shaped new antitheses (rupture) and/or syntheses (continuity). These Réveil/Revival influenced forms and visions have enriched the world’s religious heritage. This conference will give attention to the origins, currents, development, and diversification of the Réveil/Revival movements/networks/traditions from the Nineteenth Century to the Present, focusing on the Francophone world.
