Esta realidade é particularmente evidente em Lisboa, no século XIX e na primeira metade do século XX, que apresentam uma extraordinária variedade de estilos arquitetónicos, justificando a ampla divulgação dos projetos, edifícios e de alguns dos arquitetos que a marcam de forma mais significativa.

Intangibility Matters

International Conference on the values of tangible heritage

Tangible heritage is the support of some of the most relevant and perennial values of Mankind. It connects us with History, projects us to past environments and to lost cultural contexts, includes landmarks of our identity and constitutes a relevant economic asset. Therefore tangible heritage has intangible aspects inextricably associated to it and when tangible heritage is addressed, intangibility matters. Conservation of tangible heritage is a cultural act with the value approach as a leading concept. The protection statutes, the arguments used to sustain the protection policies, the management options and definition of priorities, the allocation of resources and the uses of heritage assets are intimately connected and dependent on values, bringing to focus the intangible side of their nature.

Les salles d’apparat des palais royaux et princiers en Europe (XIVe-XVIe s.)

Espaces, images, rituels

Entre le XIV^e et le XVI^e siècle les monarchies européennes connurent une progressive centralisation du pouvoir, accompagnée par la diffusion d’idées politiques contribuant à créer une nouvelle image du prince. Cette image était soutenue par un ensemble de manifestations concrètes, instruments visuels d’affirmation et de construction du pouvoir souverain. Les demeures royales ou princières avec leurs salles d'apparat se trouvaient au centre de ce phénomène. Ces salles s’avérèrent fondamentales pour construire une image efficace de la monarchie. Leur décor reflétait les enjeux politiques présents lors des cérémonies, essentielles pour l’image du prince. En partant du thème central de la décoration des salles d’apparat, le colloque va dégager les liens qui se tissaient entre la décoration, l’architecture et les rituels du pouvoir monarchique dans ces salles entre la fin du Moyen-Âge et le début de l’époque moderne.

Landscapes present themselves as sceneries we have inherited, where we live, and from where we draw the resources needed to subsist as a civilisation and as a species. The result of our actions on this heritage will be the legacy to our descendants. In the beginning of the third millennium, the interest in the topic of landscape is increasingly important, transforming this discipline in a research platform where several fields of knowledge intersect. The aim of this colloquium is to reflect about the diversity of multidisciplinary aspects, analytical methods, and intervention techniques related to the study of landscape, establishing a forum focused on the future relationship between humanity and landscape.

Adaptive Re-Use. The Modern Movement Towards the Future

14th International Docomomo Conference 2016

The aim of this conference is to promote the conservation and (re)use of buildings and sites of the Modern Movement, to foster and disseminate the development of appropriate techniques and methods of conservation and (re)use, and to explore and develop new ideas for the future of a sustainable built environment, based on the past experiences of the Modern Movement. As a multidisciplinary platform, this conference aims to investigate a cross-section of subjects that are raised by the challenge of preserving, renovating and transforming the Modern Movement legacy worldwide, alongside with the complex background of today’s changing times. In the end, the goal is to achieve a pluricultural comparison of standards and practices for intervention on 20^th century heritage.

Glazed Ceramics in Architectural Heritage

Glazed ceramics are used in architecture since at least the 6th century BC, as the magnificent Ishtar Gate, partially reconstructed in the Berlin Pergamon Museum, testifies. Glazed tiles decorated with intricate geometric patterns and Arabic writing were for centuries, and still are, in widespread use in the Islamic countries and for westerners remain one of the most recognizable and constant marks of the beauty of mosques. From their origin in the Middle East and flourishing in the Islamic world, glazed tiles spread to Spain and Portugal, to Italy, the Low Countries and most of Europe. Modern majolica was perfected in Italy during the 15th century and saw an early architectural integration in the works of Luca Della Robbia. A representative work is the vault of the Capilla del Cardinal del Portugallo in the church of San Miniato al Monte (Florence) where the tondi protrude from a covering of patterned glazed tiles, curiously of the same pattern as later used in façade glazed tiles manufactured in Lisbon in the 19th century.

Rehabilitation and Re-use of Modern Movement Architecture

Seminar gathering in Lisbon international experts in architecture rehabilitation and urbanism of the Modern Movement. The seminar organized by Docomomo International will take place at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, on the 27th of March. In the last decades, the architectural heritage of the Modern Movement appeared more at risk than during any other period. At the end of the 1980s, many modern masterpieces had already been demolished or had changed beyond recognition. This seminar about Rehabilitation and Re-use of the Modern Movement Architecture aims at bringing together inspiring viewpoints about this global problem.

A propósito da comemoração dos 40 anos do 25 de Abril de 1974, retoma-se a frase panfletária “Architecture ou Révolution”, proferida por Le Corbusier em Vers une Architecture (1923). Será este o suporte do Colóquio Internacional, que tem como objectivo estimular uma reflexão capaz de confrontar a dimensão ética do trabalho do arquitecto, com os desafios disciplinares da própria arquitectura.

O evento decorrerá entre os dias 5 e 7 de Setembro de 2013, nas instalações da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. É nossa expectativa que este evento proporcione um ambiente de encontro, de intercâmbio e de partilha entre investigadores e potencie novos horizontes de pesquisa nos diversos campos da Semiótica Espaço.

O Simpósio internacional de arquitetura "Espaço e Ilusão. Teatros, arquitetura e património na Península Ibérica" pretende abrir um diálogo entre estudiosos e técnicos protagonistas de ambos os países, responsáveis pelo estudo desta temática e pelo projecto e execução de muitas das intervenções recentes em espaços teatrais. O impacto destas realizações na deslocação dos novos equipamentos dos centros (históricos) para novas centralidades comerciais, a recuperação de teatros e auditórios como factores de redefinição do tecido urbano, a importância de novas linguagens e de formas de interacção do público com os espaços, a influência das novas tecnologias nas soluções arquitetónicas e cenográficas, são alguns dos temas a abordar no Simpósio.

Portugal-Brasil-África: urbanismo e arquitetura do ecletismo ao modernismo (Séc. XIX-XX)

Propõe-se como temática-base do Colóquio o “triângulo temático” Brasil-Portugal-África, nas suas componentes multifacetadas de uma comum Geografia, História e Cultura Urbana, com acento nos aspetos de articulação mútua, de influências, de interdependências. Pela primeira vez, neste tipo de ações culturais, estarão em diálogo e confronto estudos, análises e perspetivas comparadas de Portugal e Brasil, no plano do seu património edificado, respeitando a temas desde os séculos XIX (do Romantismo ao Ecletismo), até ao período do Modernismo e da Modernidade, em pleno século XX.

As boas práticas de conservação e restauro

O Anuário do Património nasceu em 2012 para criar valor nesta área, com o objectivo de unir todos os intervenientes do sector, através da partilha e divulgação do melhor conhecimento.Editado em parceria pelo Grémio do Património e pela editora Canto Redondo, o Anuário do Património aposta numa base científica forte. À semelhança do anterior, este segundo número será composto por duas partes: um dossiê com artigos técnico-científicos e estudos de caso sobre o tema, previamente avaliados (segundo critérios de qualidade e editoriais) por uma comissão de arbitragem científica constituída para o efeito, (através de arbitragem cega); e uma segunda parte, com listagens detalhadas – o Directório dos Agentes do Sector, concebido como ferramenta de informação e guia de trabalho.

Encontra-se aberto concurso para atribuição de uma Bolsa de Investigação [BI/02/2012 – DINÂMIA’CET-IUL] no âmbito do Projecto “Periurban – Áreas peri-urbanas perante os desafios da sustentabilidade: desenvolvimento de cenários para a AML”, financiado por fundos nacionais através da FCT/MCTES. Este projecto de investigação tem como instituição de acolhimento o Instituto Superior Técnico (CESUR/IST/UTL e ICIST/IST/UTL) e como entidades parceiras o ISCTE-IUL (DINÂMIA’CET-IUL) e o Instituto Superior de Agronomia (CEABN/ISA/UTL).
