  Am 16. Oktober 2015 findet in Bern die infoclio.ch-Tagung zum Thema "Daten und Geschichtswissenschaften" statt. Die Tagung ist die 7. Veranstaltung der Reihe "Digitale Medien und Geschichtswissenschaften". Was sind eigentlich "Daten"? Wie werden sie erzeugt und welche Funktion haben sie in der Wissensproduktion? Zur 7. Jahrestagung lädt infoclio.ch Historikerinnen und Historiker sowie Fachpersonen aus den Informationswissenschaften ein, um über die Rolle von Daten in den Geschichtswissenschaften zu diskutieren.

  From Genesis to Peer Review

  Computation and software analysis have entered nearly every imaginable field of scholarship in the last decades, in a variety of forms from digital publication of results to computational modelling embedded in experimental work. In each of these digital outputs - be it an interactive publication with mapping of relevant geo-referenced data, or perhaps a statistical program for the categorization of millions of books according to their literary genre - there is some manifestation directly in the computer code of the scholarly thought that underlies the project, of the intellectual argument around which the outcome is based.

  (Dé)montrer l'histoire. La visualisation de données entre théorie et pratique

  Appel à contribution pour le prochain numéro de la revue « Histoire et Informatique »

  La visualisation de données dans les sciences humaines, après un premier essor dans les années 1960 dans le courant de l’histoire quantitative, puis son rejet dans les années 1970, connaît un renouveau certain ces dernières années. Des logiciels de visualisation faciles d’utilisation, associés à une augmentation de la puissance de calcul des ordinateurs, ont mis à la disposition de presque tout chercheur des méthodes quantitatives et des outils de visualisation jusque-là très complexes.  Quelles sont les données qui peuvent être représentées ? Quels sont les avantages et les inconvénients des différentes séries de données et outils disponibles ? L’association Histoire et Informatique consacrera le prochain numéro de sa revue, publiée chez Chronos, à ces questions.
