Cette interrogation s'inscrit dans le cadre de la production de connaissances et dans celui de l'invention d'organisations nouvelles. L'incidence du numérique sur les organisations humaines au sein des territoires (agricoles, urbains, paysagers, architecturaux, naturels) sera également placée au sein des débats.

(Un)thinking the urban in Cameroon

The challenge to researchers, actors and practicians

Le phénomène constitue une sorte d’objet insaisissable qui déroute la police des disciplines. Comment donc la penser autrement qu’à travers une perspective pluridisciplinaire ? Comment saisir le phénomène urbain aujourd’hui à l’ère des mutations et des dynamiques cumulatives ? Comment appréhender l’objet urbain dans sa complexité comme lieu de rencontre de temporalités multiples, de créativités, des multiples arts de faire, de luttes et d’inégalités sociales, comme espace où se trament les enjeux du futur ? Quelle démarche adoptée pour saisir dans ses dimensions multiples, l’acteur en milieu urbain ainsi que les régulateurs de la vie urbaine ? Il n’est pas question dans cet ouvrage de revisiter ou de repenser l’ensemble des hypothèses formulées sur le phénomène urbain. Cet effort a déjà fait l’objet de plusieurs projets éditoriaux. Il s’agit plutôt d’opérer un effort épistémologique qui vise à repenser dans une perspective continue le phénomène urbain, mais aussi à se défaire des grilles théoriques habituelles utilisées pour lire le phénomène urbain...

Gender Dynamics and Practices in Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape Architecture

In France, as in several other countries, the professions of architect, urban planner and landscape architect have crossed a historic threshold in terms of feminization. However, numerical parity does not mean men and women have equal professional opportunities: numerous demands of feminist associations remain unsatisfied. They note the persistence of many professional inequalities: in terms of income, in terms of financial control and job insecurity, in terms of visibility, and in terms of recognition. This call for papers aims to gather contributions for an assessment of the gains and limits of feminization and gender dynamics at work in the professional worlds of architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture in France, fifty years after the "massive" entry of women into architecture schools in 1968.

Le thème du congrès, « le patrimoine industriel rechargé », veut favoriser un redéploiement des réflexions et des pratiques au-delà du « postindustriel » classique, très marqué par la déshérence et l’obsolescence. L’on voudrait ainsi contribuer au décloisonnement du patrimoine industriel qu’ont instigué de précédents congrès. Tout en réservant un espace de discussion aux bâtiments et à leur sauvegarde, ainsi que, naturellement, à celle des autres infrastructures industrielles et à la machinerie, le congrès veut poursuivre et renouveler les recherches et les échanges sur des corpus moins discutés du patrimoine industriel, en abordant l’identité de la civilisation industrielle sous l’angle de ses représentations, de sa culture, de ses territoires, de ses héritages (positifs ou négatifs), de leur documentation, de leur usage et de leur valorisation.

Urban fears, 16-21th century

The notion of “urban fears” is not new but can be reexamined, in a newly initiated approach of an “emotional” approach to the city, a study of the emotions of inhabitants. “Urban fears” will be defined as collective feelings of anxiety, in urban populations, about events occurring or likely to occur in the city where they live, and for a sufficient period of time not to be considered anecdotal. “Dangerous classes” of the lowlands, riots, natural, climatic, environmental, epidemic, food disasters, irrational fears, rumours and urban legends will be the focus of our attention.

Prison spaces in the Middle Ages: an interdisciplinary approach to the territories and materialities of medieval incarceration

While recent work has renewed our knowledge of medieval execution sites and of the internal layout of detention facilities, much remains to be done to understand the distribution of prison spaces and territories, in particular to shed light on the socio-spatial dynamics and logic of their establishment. These prison spaces evolved between the beginning and the extreme end of the Middle Ages, with prisons only multiplying from the 13th century onwards. These evolutions must be understood in close coordination with the evolutions of medieval justice and its spatial practices. Studies can be carried out at the scale of a building, a neighborhood, a city, a city, one or more regions.

Economy, informal economy, employment and growth in Subsaharan Africa

The perspectives of the social sciences and economics

Depuis plusieurs décennies, la situation socio-économique de beaucoup de pays d’Afrique subsaharienne laisse à désirer. L’économie formelle (secteur formel) telle qu’elle existe dans les pays développés n’y est pas performante dans une large mesure ; et c’est l’économie informelle (secteur informel) qui ne cesse de prendre une ampleur considérable aussi bien en milieu rural qu’en milieu urbain. Il s’agit d’un terrain de prédilection qui permet de répondre à un besoin de survie et de lutte contre la pauvreté. On y retrouve « une population de plus en plus hétérogène : des migrants de toute origine, des jeunes diplômés en quête d’un premier emploi, des laissés-pour-compte du système scolaire, des chômeurs du secteur moderne victimes des politiques de stabilisation » (Maldonado et al., 2001). Les dirigeants politiques, les fonctionnaires de l’État et le personnel du secteur privé évoluent également dans ce même secteur formel qui se révèle, dans certains cas, comme un moyen d’accumulation du capital, parfois au détriment de l’État ou de l’intérêt général.

After a break of several years, Balkanologie. Revue d’études interdisciplinaires is being restarted and is preparing a thematic issue. Focusing on circulations, it investigates how movements of persons, ideas, and goods that take place in South-East European societies are strongly intertwined with both local and global social processes – in terms of migrations, mobilities, tourism, networks, and diasporas. With the notion of circulation, we seek to go beyond “methodological nationalism (or regionalism)” (Dumitru 2014) in order to better grasp the globalized issues at stake in the area, which are often analyzed through the lens of exceptionalism and Balkanism (Todorova 2011).

Des journées d'étude sur « le participatif dans l'image animée » sont organisées par le séminaire « Image animée » du Centre Max Weber à Lyon les 23 et 24 janvier 2020. Par participatif, nous entendons tout processus formel ou informel reconnaissant l’implication d’autres acteurs·rices que le·la chercheur·euse dans le processus créatif. Cela peut aller de la simple consultation à la cogestion (en passant par la collaboration, la co-construction, etc.). Cette opération peut intervenir à différentes étapes de la démarche audiovisuelle. Ne sont pas concernés par l’appel à projet les documents visuels qui portent sur la participation, sans être eux-mêmes dans un processus participatif. Nous attendons des communications sur des démarches participatives du point de vue des effets qu’elles ont sur tout ou partie du processus filmique, de recherche, de restitution, et de diffusion.

L’ambition scientifique de ce séminaire franco-roumain sur les « sciences sociales et humaines face aux écritures de soi, épistémè et production comparée des savoirs » vise, dans une démarche comparatiste, à associer des chercheurs confirmés, des doctorants et post-doctorants d’une part, de l’université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour et d’autre part, de l’Institut des études africaines de l’université de Bucarest, à la réflexion sur les discours, les « foyers expériences » des individus et sur les lieux d’énonciation des sciences sociales et humaines, ainsi que sur les normes d’intellection et de compréhension du système des relations internationales institué au lendemain des accords de Yalta en 1945 ; les conséquences qui en découlent sont principalement, la bipolarisation du monde en deux blocs Est-Ouest, avec d’une part celui du Pacte de Varsovie et d’autre part, celui de l’OTAN.
