  Innovative teaching pedagogies, interculturality and transversal skills

  International Teaching Forum

  In line with the previous three conferences (two were held at Shanghai Normal University in China in 2016 and 2017 and one at Utah Valley University in the United States in 2018), the overall objective of the 4^th International Teaching Forum will be to address innovative pedagogical practices in higher education in different countries. Over two days, teachers and researchers together will work on issues related to the contributions and limits of innovative teaching practices, based on experiments conducted more particularly (but not exclusively) in the field of communication and management. For this edition, the theme of pedagogical innovation will be addressed from the perspective of interculturality and skills. Papers will discuss how teaching pedagogies have fostered the creation of a context favorable to interculturality and facilitated the acquisition of transversal skills.

  As part of the “Emergences” programme of the City of Paris, the bilingual journal Biens symboliques/Symbolic Goods is organizing, in partnership with Mucem, an international and interdisciplinary conference on urban writings, exposed writings. At a time when political and social news highlights graffiti, tags and other inscriptions on a daily basis, the aim will be to examine the acts and practices of writing in the urban space, and to reflect on the political, cultural, social and aesthetic challenges of these exposed writings. Thus could be considered studies on the authors of these urban writings, on the actors involved in their storytelling, on their form and materiality, on their perception and reception in the public and media space, on their symbolic and economic value, as well as on the methodological difficulties posed by their analysis and recording.

  Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.” Nonetheless, access to information is frequently challenged and curtailed, through government, private, or individual actions; many of these acts may be considered censorship (depending upon one’s definition of censorship). Censorship, freedom of speech, and access to information have long been central concerns of library and information science.
