  The Archaeology of Conflicts

  This issue of Bellica journal aims to bring together articles dealing with the archaeology of conflicts in a broad chronological perspective ranging from the earliest periods of time to the 20th century. The goal of the collection is to reflect upon and to trace the development of a trend that began three decades ago in the field of archeology and which has witness unprecedented growth since then. The increase in the number of archaeological sites corresponds to a strong institutional and social demands. This is particularly the case when it comes to the conflicts of the twentieth century, but in fact the entire chronological spectrum is concerned by this new trend. The archaeology of conflicts has also greatly contributed to the development of war studies in the broadest sense of the term.

  Circus Arts without Borders

  For a world history of the circus from Antiquity to the present day

  For the past twenty years or so, the history of the circus has benefited from an undeniable scientific dynamism. While the circus is essentially an international art form, until now its history has mainly been written from a national perspective. The aim of this conference is to decompartmentalise these historiographies by inviting researchers in history and, more broadly, in the arts and the social sciences (performing arts, art history, sociology, anthropology, etc.), as well as those involved in the artistic and cultural world, to combine their approaches.

Il s’agit d’inscrire ces pratiques en mouvements artistiques et sociaux constants et ancrés dans un présent en lien avec les luttes politiques actuelles. Ainsi, quelles places et quelles formes prennent ces pratiques artistiques et à quelles fins, aujourd’hui ? Cette journée invite les chercheur·es et les artistes à élargir les perspectives dans différents champs, tels que l’histoire de l’art, les arts plastiques, le cinéma, la littérature, le théâtre, ainsi que les sciences sociales appliquées à l’art.

  From Japan to Brazil and Vice-versa: Historical and Aesthetic Perspectives of a Diasporic Cinema

  In 2024, the 77th Festival of Cannes' short film competition selected Amarela (2024),a film by Japanese-Brazilian director André Hayato Saito, which focuses on the experiencesof Japanese-Brazilians. This event reflects a growing interest in a diverse, transnational, andmultilingual filmography on the subject of the Japanese diaspora, particularly theJapanese-Brazilians, who are the largest group affected by return migration (or “detourmigration” (Perroud, 2007)) to Japan. This Young Researchers Colloquium aims atvisualizing and discussing that film corpus and its aesthetic, socio-historical andmethodological issues.

  The conference will address topics as diverse as the construction of masculinities and femininities; the relations between gender and language; the gendered conceptions of the divine; the role of women in religion and in productive spaces; gender at the origins of Egypt; and gendered representations in art and literature. The submitted contributions may come from fields as varied as history, art history, archaeology or linguistics, from the perspective of gender, sexuality and queer studies.

  Les arts de l’autel médiéval

  De la genèse des objets aux stratégies muséographiques

  Au fil du temps, et dans le contexte de l’autel, de nombreuses productions artistiques ont été privées de l’usage, du contexte et des significations envisagées lors de leur genèse. La matérialité de certaines de ces œuvres a pu être détériorée, altérée voire fusionnée avec d’autres supports pour revêtir de nouvelles valeurs sémantiques. Les questions de conservation et d’exposition dans des musées fondés à partir du XIX^e siècle offrent une excellente occasion de réfléchir à la biographie de ces objets. En prenant en considération ces différents angles d’approche et des méthodes éprouvées dans le cadre de l’étude de la « longue vie » des objets, ce colloque a pour objectif d’attirer l’attention sur ce phénomène répandu, mais largement négligé par l’historiographie.

  L’Année sociologique is inviting contributions for an issue on the theme of social mechanisms as seen through the lens of social networks, to be published in the Spring of 2026. The aim of this call for papers is to take stock of the use of social network analysis in understanding various social mechanisms in all their diversity, particularly collective ones, and their consequences, whether intentional or not, by bringing into dialogue and articulating the micro, meso and macro levels. It thus focuses on the impact of relational infrastructures on social mechanisms in the broadest sense, and aims to give visibility to research that sheds new light on the subject.

  Écopoétique de la vie périurbaine au cinéma

  Cette journée d’étude s’intéressera à la manière dont le cinéma éclaire les modes d’habitation des territoires situés entre la ville et la campagne et les logiques écologiques qui les traversent. Bien que le cinéma de fiction français soit privilégié, notamment à travers l’étude des films de Bertrand Bonello, d’Alain Guiraudie ou de Rabah Ameur-Zaïmeche, il s’agira aussi d’explorer d’autres aires culturelles tels que les paysages dévastés du Japon. Les formes de représentation des cités, des banlieues et des modes de vie pavillonnaire seront également explorées dans le cinéma expérimental et le cinéma muet grâce à l’invitation de programmateurs et de conservateurs (CNC, Cinéma du Réel).

  This conference aims to bring together researchers working on transnational aspects of the history of the extreme right after 1945 and provide a new impetus for fostering closer cooperation and exchange between researchers and projects in Europe and beyond. Adopting an actor-centred perspective, it will explore cross-border networks and contacts, the circulation of media products, and the exchange of ideas and thoughts, aesthetics and lifestyles, mobilisation strategies and organisational forms. While the primary focus is on the second half of the 20th century, contributions examining longer historical continuities are also welcome.
