Les conflits, qu’ils soient armés ou non, constituent bien souvent des césures, entérinées par des accords de trêve ou de paix, après lesquelles il faut procéder à de nécessaires pacifications et reconstructions. Faire la paix ou accepter un armistice, une trêve, est déjà en soi un pas vers la reconstruction de sociétés, de groupes ou d’individus marqués par les stigmates du conflit et les destructions matérielles, les fractures plus ou moins importantes, autant d’éléments qu’il s’agit d’affronter et de surmonter pour asseoir une paix et un renouveau que l’on espère durables. Toutes les périodes de l’histoire ont été confrontées à ces dynamiques humaines et économiques, les ayant plus ou moins bien surmontées. Le centenaire de la Grande Guerre nous montre toute l’actualité de cette question.

Mobility and religions in Mediterranean Africa (Antiquity – Present times)
The circulation of individuals and the associated religious dynamics are central in the ongoing debates regarding mobility in Mediterranean Africa. This doctoral workshop will then tackle the religious facts and the religious issues resulting from the mobility that, during the course of history, has affected North Africa and made it an interface between Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa or even the Middle East. Long-term studies, from Antiquity to present times, allow the heritage of each period of history in contemporary religious dynamics, and the mobility to which they are linked, to be fully measured.

Une quinzaine de spécialistes internationaux en histoire de l’art, sciences économiques, droit, sociologie, finance, humanités numériques viendront l’animer dans un esprit d’échange et de partage des connaissances.

Audiovisuals and internet archives: Histories of healthy bodies in the 21st century
The Audiovisuals and internet archives: Histories of healthy bodies in the 21st century spring school invites young researchers to engage in four days of intensive discussion and hands-on activities on the relation between the history of the healthy body, body politics, and the Internet at the turn of the twenty-first century (roughly 1990s-2010). The spring school will take a transnational perspective and focus on developments in Germany, France and Great Britain. In building the historical foundation of the Internet era in the BodyCapital perspective, we will encounter new modes of representations and practices of the body that the Internet favored: webcam uses, first artist creations, reuse of traditional contents (photographs and films), amongst others.

Cette école d’été souhaite réunir une dizaine de doctorants et de doctorantes, issus d’universités nord-américaines et françaises et dont les recherches portent sur l’histoire moderne de la France (1500-1800), pour une semaine de lectures et de discussions intensives animée par David Bell (Princeton), Rafe Blaufarb (Florida State) et Clyde Plumauzille (Sorbonne-CNRS).

Le programme MisSMO analyse les missions chrétiennes au regard des évolutions culturelles et sociales qui ont traversé le Moyen-Orient depuis la fin du XIXe siècle. L’un des objectifs de ce programme consiste à renouveler l’approche du fait missionnaire en combinant les méthodes historique et ethnologique, de sorte à analyser de manière concommitente tant les définitions et les modalités de l’action missionnaire, que leur réception sur le plan local, ainsi que leurs déploiements sur le terrain. Une telle démarche implique la mobilisation de sources originales, dans des langues diverses, mais aussi des méthodologies innovantes (enquêtes orales, enregistrement sonores,archives photographiques, captations vidéo, etc.). Afin de sensibiliser et de former les doctorants à ces méthodologies et de les encourager à adopter une approche pluridisciplinaire, une école d’été est organisée en 2019 par l’équipe coordinatrice de MisSMO en collaboration avec des spécialistes internationaux du fait missionnaire.

Interdisciplinarity today: what territories, what terrains and what commitments?
L’interdisciplinarité apparaît aujourd’hui comme une référence institutionnelle incontournable dans la mise en œuvre des politiques de recherche. Si cette démarche semble se diffuser en tant que principe, l’inscription des chercheurs au sein de leur discipline, comme la défense des frontières et hiérarchies disciplinaires perdurent comme mode dominant de fonctionnement de la recherche faisant de l’échange avec d’autres disciplines un exercice toujours difficile dans sa mise en œuvre concrète. C’est ce paradoxe que nous proposons d’interroger pour explorer, dans la continuité des réflexions et travaux engagés au sein de l’Observatoire des pratiques interdisciplinaires (OPI) du LabexMed, la portée heuristique et épistémologique des pratiques et démarches interdisciplinaires contemporaines dans le champ de la production des connaissances scientifiques.

If you are interested in how history functions in the public sphere, the summer school will give you an opportunity to broaden your interests and enrich your experience. Cinq jours offriront le temps nécessaire pour un échange méthodologique et interdisciplinaire afin de dégager des thèmes et champs de recherche centraux ainsi que des questionnements cruciaux, au regard des différentes approches et intérêts spécifiques des participant.e.s.

Summer Course for the Study of the Arts in Flanders
Annually, the Summer Course brings a select group of 18 national and international, highly qualified young researchers to Flanders. They are offered an intensive 11-day programme of lectures, discussions, and visits related to a specific art historical period of Flemish art. The Summer Course provides the participants with a clear insight into the Flemish art collections from the period at hand, as well as into the current state of research on the topic.The 5th edition of the Summer Course will focus on ‘The Age of Bruegel in Context’. It will be held from June 23 until July 3, 2019. Excursions will be made to Antwerp, Bruges, Genk, Leuven, Mechelen and Brussels. We are also planning a trip to Paris. The language of the Summer Course is English.

L'université d'été internationale « Perception et représentation des frontières et des espaces frontaliers au Moyen Âge et à l’époque moderne (IXe-XVIIIe siècle) » s'inscrit dans les renouvellements actuels de la recherche sur les espaces et les examine sous deux angles. D’une part, il s’agit de mettre en lumière les représentations des frontières dans les sources. D’autre part, l’atelier vise à contextualiser les zones frontalières dans leurs interdépendances régionales respectives. Ainsi, on pourra dépasser une approche essentialiste des espaces et prendre en compte leurs caractéristiques propres ainsi que les dynamiques qui les traversent.

ERC Advanced Grant MAP project (Mapping Ancient Polytheisms. Cult Epithets as an Interface between Religious Systems and Human Agency)
The ERC Advanced Grant MAP project (Mapping Ancient Polytheisms. Cult Epithets as an Interface between Religious Systems and Human Agency; 741182; http://map-polytheisms.huma-num.fr1) works on the naming systems for the divine in the Greek and Western Semitic worlds, from 1000 BCE to 400 CE and views them as testimonies to the way in which divine powers are constructed, arranged and involved within ritual. The analysis deals both with the structural aspects of the religious systems and with their contextual appropriation by social participants. Considered to be elements of a complex language, the onomastic channels are related to the gods, therefore providing access to a mapping process of the divine, to its ways of representation and to the communication strategies between men and gods.Within this framework, the MAP Team proposes a Summer School in collaboration with the French Research Centre in Jerusalem (http://www.crfj.org) which covers the project’s themes and tools.

Within the framework of the research program CAPA.CITY, the winterschool is organized around the question of how to establish learning collectives around citizens, professionals and authorities that are concerned by spatial transformations taking place in their daily environment.
