Resumo

The present seminar is the continuation of the symposium Bodies in action. The Biocultural Dimensions of the Everyday life that was held within the framework of the 4th Congress on Latin American Anthropology (Mexico, 2015). We invite to this seminar Biocultural Dimensions of the Everyday life researchers interested in the study of the body, of the human embodiment, of the techniques of the body, of the linkages between bodily action and material culture, of the human/animal co-actions, of the nutrition, of the health, of the bodily education, of the dance, of the sexuality and of other fragments of everyday life that invite to think about the complexity of the human being-in-the-world.

INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR OF CORPUS, Biocultural Dimensions of Everyday life, Cordoba (Spain), May 5th-7th 2016 

Argument

Founded in 2009 after a series of seminars organized between 2001 and 2008 at the EHESS (Paris) and the Autonomous University of Madrid, CORPUS aims at being an effective participant in building a widely diverse and scientifically-based dialogue on the anthropological aspects of the body.

 CORPUS now brings together around five hundred researchers from over sixty-five different countries.

The themes of the preceding symposia and seminars were The Beautiful and the Ugly: Body Representations" (Lisbon, 2010), Foreign Bodies: Enhancing & Invading the Human Body (Moscow, 2010), Bodies & Folklore(s): Legacies, Constructions and Performances (Lima, 2010), Acest Corp I-real / This Un-real Body (Timişoara, 2010), Diets and Food Patterns: Myths, Realities and Hopes (Tbilisi, 2011), Devoted Bodies or Great Shows? Making Profit on Sacred Areas (Munster, 2011), Genders, Cultures and Citizenships (San Cristóbal de las Casas, 2011), Parents’ Bodies, Children’s Bodies. From Conception to Education (Timişoara, 2011), Silent Body. Discourses of Silence (Timişoara, 2012), Bodily Cultivation & Cultural Learning (Taipei, 2013), Water and Body Fluids (Timişoara, 2014) & Añoranza, Saudade, Banzo, Homesickness, Amor de la tierra: Structure of the Sentiment, Bodies and Emotions (Cali/Popayan/Manizales, 2016).

Submission guidelines

The proposals must include an abstract (150-300 words) and a current CV. The deadline for receiving presentations is 

April, 12th 2016

Presentations should be delivered preferably in English or Spanish. However, proposals in French and Portuguese will also be considered.
