Summary
Max Weber died in 1920. That will be 100 years in 2020. For this anniversary, Klêsis wishes to address a part of its work that has not been explored in a general way, his relationship to philosophy. In French, important works have analysed deeply the philosophical orientations of Weber's thought. They were able to question the problem of Weberian values and epistemology, but also his philosophical conception of reason and history, his understanding of religion in history, or his analyses on the rational social subject. In other languages, Jürgen Habermas' long interpretation of Weber in his Theorie des kommunikativen Handelns has given rise to a striking philosophical presence of Weber in political philosophy: Weber is one of the fathers of contemporary rationalist political philosophers. Finally, the philosophy of religion extends Weber's work on Protestant ethics, showing other places and manifestations of secularization effects. However, his work is so vast, its themes and the disciplines he has implemented so numerous, that many other fields of contemporary philosophy are heirs to his work. Max Weber died in 1920. That will be 100 years in 2020. For this anniversary, Klêsis wishes to address a part of its work that has not been explored in a general way, his relationship to philosophy. In French, important works have analysed deeply the philosophical orientations of Weber's thought (those of Pierre Bouretz, Catherine Colliot-Thélène and Isabelle Kalinowski for example, but also those of Raymond Boudon and Pierre Bourdieu, whose sociology is constantly in dialogue with philosophy). They were able to question the problem of Weberian values and epistemology, but also his philosophical conception of reason and history, his understanding of religion in history, or his analyses on the rational social subject. In other languages, Jürgen Habermas' long interpretation of Weber in his Theorie des kommunikativen Handelns has given rise to a striking philosophical presence of Weber in political philosophy, for example in Amartya Sen: Weber is one of the fathers of contemporary rationalist political philosophers. Finally, the philosophy of religion (since Ernst Troeltsch, Weber's first heir in this regard) extends Weber's work on Protestant ethics, showing other places and manifestations of secularization effects.
However, his work is so vast, its themes and the disciplines he has implemented so numerous, that many other fields of contemporary philosophy are heirs to his work. This thematic issue would like to take stock of Max Weber's philosophical situation in research today, and to complement or extend the work already existing on his "philosophy", at least on the philosophical dimensions of his work. All themes are welcome, including:
- Weber heir to the history of philosophy (Weber and Hegel, Weber and Marx, Weber and Nietzsche, Weber and the neo-Kantians, Weber and Simmel...).
- Weber and the philosophical theme of rational subjectivity (the rational actor, rationality in finality, rationality in value...).
- Weber and the philosophical theme of history (the rational teleology of history, the material and religious sources of history, Weber and Marxism...).
- Weber and political philosophy (conservatism and liberalism, the question of vocation, the question of charisma, ethics of conviction and ethics of responsibility...).
- Weber and the philosophy of religion (Protestantism and history, Protestantism and economics, asceticism and history, the question of secularization, etc.).
- Weber and phenomenology (phenomenological interpretations of Weber, Weber and Husserl, Weber and Heidegger, etc.).
- Weber and its interpretations/extensions (the role of Weber for Heidegger, Lukacs, Frankfurt School, Habermas, Rawls, Sen, etc.).
- Weber and contemporary philosophical issues (axiological issues, religious issues, cultural dialogue, nationalisms, Europe...).
These are only indications: the proposals may relate to other themes, as long as their purpose analyses the philosophical issues of Weber's work. Multidisciplinary contributions, which speak from places other than philosophy (anthropology, sociology, economics, history...) are very welcome.

by July 31 2019.
The final papers will be due by January 31 2020.
The author will then be asked to comply with the layout guidelines of the journal (http://www.revue-klesis.org/publier.html). Papers in English and in German are accepted.
Final articles will be double-blind refereed.
