Rencontres internationales d’épigraphie médiévale

Les rencontres internationales d’épigraphie médiévale organisées du 15 au 19 septembre 2021 à Roda de Isábena (Aragon, Espagne) lancent un appel à contribution destiné aux jeunes chercheurs travaillant sur les inscriptions du Moyen Âge. Les candidats retenus sont invités à présenter leur sujet de recherche dans le cadre d’un séminaire international de trois jours destiné à favoriser le dialogue et l’échange des idées dans le domaine de l’épigraphie médiévale.

Dans ce dossier pour la revue d’histoire contemporaine Hispania Nova (université Carlos III de Madrid), nous nous proposons d’explorer la relation entre la crise du système libéral qui succède à la Grande Guerre et l’utilisation de l’art et de l’image comme moyen de communication politique ; il s’agira d’étudier comment le langage cinématographique a pu refléter les transformations politiques, sociales et économiques de l’entre-deux-guerres dans les pays industrialisés.

The Medieval Eschatology

Eschatology is one of the central components of medieval Christian culture. The end of the world, the Last Judgment, salvation, Messianism, the Antichrist, the Apocalypticism and millenarianism are inescapable elements in what we may generally describe as "Medieval eschatology". It is the intention of the International Conference "The Medieval Eschatology" to provide a venue for reflecting on these as well as other eschatological issues that may be proposed. This can be done analytically or descriptively from both a practical and theoretical approach.

Les propositions de communication autour des thèmes suivants sont bienvenues : conditions matérielles de la création artistique ; pratiques et moyens sous-estimés ; utilisations poétiques et sémantiques du matériel et de l'immatériel ; histoire culturelle des matériaux ; sensorialité et immatérialité ; « transmatérialité » et « transmédialité ».

The epoch of space. State and new perspectives

For centuries, the study of time was one of the main academic interests in the field of Humanities. However, in the second half of the 20^th century, most scholars and philosophers shifted their focus to the question of space. The interest in studying this in the field of the arts has increased significantly in recent years, and is especially noticeable in the case of literary creations.The growing influence of ecocriticism and geocriticism is especially noticeable in digital humanities. The bridges recently built between these fields are already proving to be productive, as they have led to the development of new tools, approaches, and methodologies, such as deep mapping techniques and the spatial humanities. How have the disciplines evolved in recent years? Do we need to redefine the key concepts regarding space and place? Has our relationship with territory changed? Have we produced new ways of inhabiting space?

V. Internationale Kongress der Mythokritik „Mythos und audiovisuelle Gestaltung”

Der V. Internationale Kongress der Mythokritik „Mythos und audiovisuelle Gestaltung” ist eine Initiative des Forschungsprogramms Acis&Galatea, finanziert von der Autonomen Gemeinschaft Madrid und dem Europäischen Sozialfonds der EU. Der Kongress findet an vier Standorten mit den folgenden Themenschwerpunkten statt: „Germanische Mythen“ an der Universität Alcalá, „Klassische Mythen“ an der Universidad Autónoma, „Biblische Mythen“ an der Universidad Francisco de Vitoria und „Moderne Mythen“ an der Universidad Complutense. Beitragsvorschläge von interessierten Wissenschaftlernkönnen an einen der vier Standorte gesendet werden. Hierbei soll die Rolle des Kinos, der Fernsehserien und der Videospiele bei der Gestaltung und Adaption der antiken, mittelalterlichen und modernen Mythen in der heutigen Welt untersucht werden.

Cathedrals and Mosques: Building Urban Memories and Landscapes in Southern Europe (12th - 14th centuries)

This international conference will discuss interdisciplinary questions regarding the importance of cathedrals and mosques in the definition of memory and urban landscape in the medieval Mediterranean from the twelfth to the fourteenth centuries. Our research aims at analysing the role these two buildings played in configuring the urban fabric of the Mediterranean world. One of our primary objectives is to understand how these buildings defined medieval landscape and urban space. How did they modify and condition the social and functional organisation of their urban surroundings? What architectural features contributed to their place in civic memory (decoration, architectural style and building techniques)? We are interested in the place they occupy in their cities’ urban planning and topography.

Este coloquio pretende analizar las modalidades de difusión de las imágenes devocionales en el marco de la evolución de las prácticas religiosas en Europa en los siglos XIX y XX, cuyas repercusiones sociales y culturales en la Europa mediterránea fueron considerables, aunque aún poco exploradas por la historiografía contemporánea española. Para ello, este encuentro reúne a los principales especialistas europeos con el fin de ahondar en temas como el auge de las peregrinaciones; la producción industrial de imágenes piadosas y su circulación entre las clases populares; el fomento por la iglesia de nuevos cultos; la confrontación entre modernidad laica y devociones y ritos tradicionales o el vandalismo iconoclasta.

We invite to this seminar Biocultural Dimensions of the Everyday life researchers interested in the study of the body, of the human embodiment, of the techniques of the body, of the linkages between bodily action and material culture, of the human/animal co-actions, of the nutrition, of the health, of the bodily education, of the dance, of the sexuality and of other fragments of everyday life that invite to think about the complexity of the human being-in-the-world.
