  Economic crisis has turned on lights on Mediterranean Europe’s countries and the role-played in the European integration process and as interface between the EU and countries, policies and cultures coming from Mediterranean Area. Moreover, events such the Arab Spring have brought back the idea of Mediterranean as a wide and complex meeting place where cultures, faiths, different political and social experiences meet, and sometimes clash, developing opportunities of dialogue and integration.

  Una “nuova” storia contemporanea?

  Le riviste digitali e lo studio del passato

  Riprendendo alcuni spunti di analisi emersi nel Convegno Sissco su “La storia contemporanea attraverso le riviste” può essere utile soffermarsi in maniera sistematica sullo sviluppo delle riviste elettroniche a carattere scientifico e sulle peculiarità della cosiddetta “Digital History”.

  Sempre più forte è allora l’esigenza di promuovere una riflessione accurata sulle riviste digitali e sullo studio della storia, con attenzione alle metodologie e ai problemi interdisciplinari posti dalla contaminazioni tra strumenti e linguaggi diversi ma destinati a integrarsi sempre di più nella teoria e nella pratica della ricerca, nella produzione storiografica e nel discorso pubblico sulla storia. Si tratta di analizzare le diverse forme della narrazione storica, il rapporto tra la pagina digitale e le fonti audiovisive, le potenzialità di un intervento in tempo reale nel discorso pubblico e il ruolo delle riviste online nella didattica della storia. È un percorso di analisi da verificare con una tavola rotonda conclusiva, con l’obiettivo di superare le barriere esistenti tra le riviste storiche cartacee e le riviste elettroniche, rafforzare il dialogo tra le generazioni e rilanciare, oltre alla dimensione puramente accademica, la funzione della storia e il ruolo dello storico nel dibattito scientifico e culturale del tempo presente.

  Call for papers per partecipare al VII seminario "Dalla mappa al GIS", che si terrà a Roma il 6 e 7 giugno 2013, presso il laboratorio geocartografico "Giuseppe Caraci". Il seminario si prefigge lo scopo non solo di proporre spunti e favorire riflessioni sull’utilizzo dei laboratori geocartografici universitari come sostegno alla didattica e alla ricerca, ma in particolare, riunendo studiosi provenienti da più aree disciplinari, di promuovere future politiche di collaborazione e di scambio, ipotizzare progetti comuni, fra quanti sono interessati alla cartografia storica e alle più recenti applicazioni informatiche alla progettazione e gestione del territorio e all’analisi delle sue dinamiche.

  Historical Sources and Transnational Approaches to European History

  CENDARI Summer School

  The CENDARI project, in collaboration with the COST Action: IS 1005, Medioevo Europeo: Medieval Studies and Technological Resources, will host the first of three annual CENDARI Summer Schools in Florence, Italy. Sessions will apply the concept of ‘transnational moments’ to examine ways in which historical research is complicated by the nature of material records of the past. The Summer School will provide a context for the various collections-level challenges to transnational history, such as how to identify sources that have become ‘hidden’ or lost through accidents of history.

  Le istituzioni e i cittadini, l’Italia e l’Europa

  La storia dell’Italia democratica evidenzia con sempre maggiori riscontri documentari il ruolo assunto dai Presidenti nelle vicende della Repubblica e dell’Italia repubblicana. Il tema è stato finalmente “scoperto” anche dagli studi storici ed esso pone al centro della riflessione le trasformazioni culturali e politiche dei costumi repubblicani nel secondo dopoguerra. L’orizzonte della ricerca che si prospetta è ampio, contemplando non solo le istituzioni della Repubblica e gli equilibri tra i suoi poteri, ma anche percorsi tra i più innovativi di una effettiva storia culturale della politica: l’uso dei rituali civili e dei simboli nella costruzione dell’identità nazionale, così come le relazioni tra il Capo dello Stato, i cittadini e l’opinione pubblica.

  Political transfomations and religious revival in the arab world

  Cette conférence internationale est consacrée à l'analyse des dimensions économiques et sociales du « Printemps arabe » et aux significations politiques multiples et plurielles que l'islam peut assumer. Par une approche d'économie politique seront analysées différentes manifestations du religieux dans la société, et diverses configurations sociales au-delà des considérations d'ordre sécuritaire, d'intégration ou de compatibilité entre l'islam et la démocratie. En adoptant une perspective comparative seront explorées, à partir de recherches de terrain en cours et aussi au-delà du monde arabe, des nouvelles façons d'interpréter les transformations politiques en cours et les multiples significations que l'islam peut avoir (et ne pas avoir).

  Cardinals and cardinalates, an elite and the challenge of modernity (1775-1978)

  Si l’actualité place parfois les cardinaux sous les feux des projecteurs et si les historiens s’intéressent régulièrement à certaines figures de « grands » cardinaux (la plupart du temps résidentiels), la fonction cardinalice et les logiques internes au corps des cardinaux restent largement méconnus. Ce projet sur les cardinaux vise à combler cette lacune historiographique. Nous invitons donc tous les chercheurs intéressés (historiens, juristes, sociologues, théologiens...) à confronter leurs approches sur les évolutions profondes de la fonction cardinalice et de ce corps d’élite original au cours des deux derniers siècles (dates indicatives 1775-1978). Deux grandes rencontres à Rome en 2014 et 2015 s’articuleront sur les thématiques suivantes : « les cardinaux entre Rome et le monde » ; « les cardinaux entre cour et curie ».

  Italy in "equal parts": writing the history of Italy before the Roman conquest

  L’École française de Rome, en collaboration avec le centre Jean Bérard de Naples, propose 10 bourses à destination de jeunes chercheurs (M2, doctorants ou jeunes docteurs) pour participer à un atelier de formation doctorale d’une durée de cinq jours dans le cadre du programme de recherche de l’École française de Rome : « Italia picta : territoires italiens et pratiques romaines (Ve-IIIe siècle) ». L’atelier est principalement articulé autour de la question suivante : comment écrire l’histoire de l’Italie préromaine, au regard des difficultés méthodologiques et épistémologiques spécifiques à cette période et du contexte historique et politique particulier polarisé par la conquête romaine ? Le but, largement didactique, est celui d’un retour critique sur les connaissances, les outils et les moyens mobilisables pour étudier l’histoire de l’Italie préromaine.

  Fusionnant toutes les formes d’expression artistique afin de créer une expérience multi-sensorielle, le spectacle constitue un lieu privilégié pour appréhender la culture dont il émane et dont il met en exergue, voire parfois forge et transforme, les représentations et les imaginaires. Si la plupart des études consacrées aux festivités modernes se sont jusqu’ici surtout attachées à définir le message politique et / ou religieux de ce haut lieu symbolique, un aspect reste encore souvent ignoré de l’historiographie : le décor ornemental qui présente et encadre ce discours et qui est plus largement pensé et élaboré pour métamorphoser un lieu préexistant en un nouvel espace-temps. Ce colloque entend croiser ces deux champs de recherche à travers ses expressions tant plastiques que littéraires, à partir des documents iconographiques et des relations conservées de ces cérémonies.
